Biography
Name meaning: In Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor, the Ateian Fife is one of the last flutes crafted by the legendary Imperial flutesmith, Parteron Ateia. Parteron's flutes were rare and coveted. This is the last one he finished working on before he died, which he specifically donated to the Bards College to be enjoyed and preserved for the centuries to come.
The gens Ateia was a plebeian family at Rome. The gens does not appear to have been particularly large or important, and is known from a small number of individuals.
Late one afternoon, Nilaratan approached Haven, a teeny tiny hatchling perched on his head. He looked...tired. Very tired. But whenever someone tried to stop him, he simply smiled and waved their concerns away. The air around him seemed to be...wavering, almost. Eventually he reached his goal, finding Sveta outside, enjoying the nice weather.
He carefully sat down beside her, and the hatchling almost immediately slid down from his head and onto Sveta's cabbie. "This little one wanted to discover a new place, but not so new that he would be alone. I thought you would be a good fit for him." After some minutes of light conversation, Nilaratan stood, said his goodbyes, and began to make his way back out of the clan.
Directly outside of the clan, he abruptly turned to the left, where Eris had been...seemingly staring for the past ten minutes. "Are we still pretending that I can't see you there?" The dirt where he was looking shifted slightly, as if someone was shuffling their feet. Nilaratan simply rolled his eyes and continued on his path out of the clan. Several bamboo stalks shift and shake only a few moments after Nilaratan continued on, almost as if a Snapper was making their way through them.
Sveta cooed happily at the small child making himself comfortable on her head. She was no Rosette, but the fact that she was trusted so deeply to be a good parent filled her with soft emotions she hadn't been able to find the words to express gratitude for. Sometimes she did wish that she was better at expressing these things... but she hoped at least that their pleasant conversation had been a nice momentary distraction from whatever had been draining her friend.
Eris silently watched the odd couple go. Usually, she would have tried to pitch in to lighten the mood with a little flavorful chaos, but something was weird about this situation and it wasn't the fun kind of weird. It was disconcerting. On the one hand, it wouldn't feel right to get involved. But on the other hand... it couldn't hurt to keep her ears open just in case.
Ateian came from the Behemoth.
