Interesting! I've traveled to a new lair and it is quite intriguing. Not too many clan members out here, but overall the clan looks well! I've been treated to some food and drink by a Nocturne. Not too much I know about him, but he certainly smells like a friend. I plan to leave soon to further my travels!

I've travelled across the lake to Churnscar Wharf, where a lair of land-bound snappers roam at the edge of the water! Hatchling and old snappers alike welcome me into their family. They mention that this is a sanctuary for them, and that they're just here temporarily before heading off to their forever homes. All these friends finding new lives in different places across the world; they inspire me. I hope to chance upon one of them again in my travels.

It turns out my home flight and the region of water have a common, foul-smelling neighbor. As I traveled across the Sea of a Thousand Currents, I found myself moving into unfamiliar territory- the Scarred Wasteland. Almost instantly I found myself under attack by a group of marauders, and it was only dumb luck that I was defended by a group of wayward skydancers and other such misfits... they call themselves the Sky Runners. Their self-appointed mission is to spread kindness throughout this wasteland and love it as their home. They've offered me a chance to stay with them for a while, saying I am welcome for as long as I need. A safe haven within a wild land like this one is too precious an opportunity to pass up.

I've stumbled upon a very unusual lair in my travels. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to why this motley crew of dragons have decided to create one of the most massive lairs I have been to. Everyone is welcome as long as you are accepting of others. There are fae and snapper and imperials all living side by side with no division of class or type. I have been staying with a female fae while here and she has been quite lovely, if a bit odd. I'm unsure of what her intentions are but I have been enjoying myself while here. I must go now as this entry is the last of my tasks before moving on.

It's been a few days since I joined up with this group of traveling merchants. Wind dragons are so carefree. This is definitely the perfect lifestyle for them. Most days, we just end up camping wherever we can at night. It's only maybe once or twice a week that the caravan stops at a major city and sets up shop on the outskirts of town.

They've been feeding and housing me for my labor. I've been helping them set up and tear down the tents every day. Not a bad gig really. The food is surprisingly delicious. I was expecting everything to taste gamey, but apparently one of Soreinth's best chefs travels with this group! He cooks their meals every morning and night.

There are some strange dragons among this group though. I won't mention names, but the dragon who gave me this tent to sleep in smells a little...strong? I guess that's the polite way to say it. I was expecting everyone to be a bit smelly but honestly, he's the only one who's a little on the strong side. Even I don't smell all too bad, just a little dusty. Hopefully, I'll have access to running water at the next stop.

The leader of this Arcane flight studies ley lines. She invited me to help with her work but warned me that we would have to cover a lot of ground. She wasn’t kidding! I didn’t expect to get so much exercise in Arcane of all places!

The ley lines shift in location and intensity over time. The changes need to be measured and recorded so that the maps stay up-to-date. I wasn’t as attuned to the strange energies as she was, but after a few hours I grew better at it. When I flew near a ley line, I could feel a shivering that wasn’t the wind. Close to the ground, the energies can be seen and felt as they radiate through the area. The landscape twists itself in many directions and the plants grow around obstacles that can’t be seen. The ley lines are hard to explain, but the unnatural beauty of the region is breathtaking.

There was a particular ley line that she wanted me to feel. She told me that it originated in the Shadow flight. There I was, standing in a landscape that was more different from Shadow than any other place I’ve visited, but when I closed my eyes I felt at home. The magic of your own elemental flight is a wonderful thing!

I returned to the Ice flight, the element of my origin, it felt a bit strange feeling this cold for the first time but it was quite welcoming.

I traveled with a group of new arrivals for a few days before we got seperated in a snowstorm. I was sure my journey would end here as the white snow was all I could see, no food and no end. The freezing weather started biting into my skin, I thought that we were supposed to withstand these conditions.

As I wandered in hope to find a way out a strange duo came to my aid, a gaoler and a banescale, sure I could see a gaoler walking around but a banescale in the wardens domain? Not what I expected.

They refused to give me their names and was not much for conversation, the silence was broken by a creepy sound coming across the land, apparently it was "singing ice" the ice was crackling and growing...I swear that sound will haunt my dreams

They dropped me off at an inn, a rowdy bunch was there, they were a fun company , we sang some songs and told our tales. In the morning I found a drawing...of me? I decided to put it in my journal before leaving on my next journey.

Eventually my travels brought me to the Shifting Expanse, a harsh and dry place. The heat was almost unbearable compared to the chill of the Southern Icefield, but luckily I was found by two dragons -- a proud silver spiral and a strangely calm blue spiral -- who led me into a small cave system tucked into steep cliffs. In return for food and a place to stay, I was asked to help perform maintenance on one of the generators nearby.

The work wasn't difficult, although my job was really to stabilize parts and carry tools while my hosts tinkered with the devices. At the end of the day, my body would end up covered in grease and dust, but the clan's matriarch gave me a pair of goggles to at least keep the dust out of my eyes. After that, I would patrol the area with the two spirals from before.

My time here has been pleasant and I've learned a lot about the machines that power the Shifting Expanse. Still, I'll be happy to go somewhere less barren soon, maybe the Sunbeam Ruins. I leave the caves with a full belly and a crude map to the edge of the Shifting Expanse.

Halflife's Lair wrote:
The shimmering glow of the Sunbeam Ruins was a welcoming feeling, Lanternlea Port was full of life and love, as I was lucky enough to arrive during the Brightshine Jubilee. The streets were filled with dragons praising the wonderful light of their deity, and I was quickly taken aside by a group of Coatls during the celebrations.

Their whistling was confusing at first, some things were lost in translation, but as the days progressed I learned more about their work and merriment during such a grand celebration. The small clan prides themselves on their conservator-restorer status; the Emperor's Wake has left many artifacts being unearthed, and in the process, these conversation efforts are needed.

During the Jubilee, we would wake at dawn to celebrate- joyous music, feasting and praise to the Lightweaver took place wherever you turned to look. Throughout the day, I was able to assist in some conversation efforts; treasure hunters would drop off ancient relics, some in pieces, some coated in thick layers of dust and grime to be carefully repaired by the skilled paws of such Coatls.

Though my lacking in experience prevented me from participating in restoration to the fullest, lest I accidently damage one of these pieces further, I have learned a grand amount of Light history in this short week. It is quite a noble city, and should I return, I hope to have a piece to offer to the restoration group.

I'm not sure how to describe my travels in the last week other than eventful. I think I accidentally joined a rebellion? I'm not entirely sure to be honest, but a heavily scarred mirror gave me a cutlass and told me to run or die, so... I suppose how I got to that point requires some explanation though, doesn't it?

For the last few days, I've been staying in a little seaside port called Marultis, which is hidden in a cave beneath the Parched Canyonwalks of Dragonhome. At first, it seemed like a lovely place for a holiday, but that impression didn't last for long. I went up to greet a dragon who seemed like he knew the place well, and he rather quickly ran off. I misunderstood, thinking he meant to give me a tour of the place, so I followed. Unfortunately, it seems he was a commander in the local rebel cell as I soon discovered when the other dragons with us, who I'd assumed were sightseers, started to attack the both of us. It seemed I was guilty by association, but there was no harm done to me or the mirror. He actually turned out to be incredibly friendly and fiercely apologetic for dragging me into the whole affair. He gave me some advice on how to avoid those in the town who would now be looking for me, and offered to introduce me to his crew. I had to move on to the next stop on my journey though, so it didn't quite work out. At least if I ever return to Marultis, unlikely as that is, I'll know I have friends I can rely on there!

I then spent a very brief time in the Flamecaller's lands, where I met Wraith and his mute boyfriend the pair taught me how to make some really neat things using metal.

I've spent a year travelling across the expanses of Sornieth, endeavouring to discover what only travelling dragons with adventure in their hearts can find. I've encountered dragons of all varieties, each unique and forged by their homelands and I've learnt something new from each and every one of them. For that, I am eternally grateful. Perhaps one day they'll make marvellous tales for hatchlings of my own. But after traversing the highs and lows from the deep and cold trenches among Water and Ice to the warm lifting drafts drifting above the forges in Fire or wastelands in Plague, or the wonderful strange mysteries offered by Arcane and Shadow and infectiously joyous crowds among Light and Nature and last but not least the hard-working souls striving after their futures in Earth and in Lightning, I have chosen to return to the place I originally called home.

After my decision to leave Shadow I once settled in Wind before choosing to travel. Now I return to Wind and settle with a group that call themselves the Gale Rain Clan. I feel this strangely turtle-shaped island is the perfect place to settle. Here reside dragons from all over Sornieth and need not travel further than my own backyard to hear an assortment of stories from all over the world. So for now I shall lay down my pen and retire my notebook to my bookshelf and allow myself to rest. This past year I've experienced joys and thrills, lonely treks and threats to my life and I've met dragons I'll never forget and emotions I never thought I could feel that'll live inside my heart. This notebook is a testament to my journey. Perhaps one day I will pick it up and write once more, but for now, I take my rest.
