Biography
- a romantic, a poet
- plays the lute
- while his parents had some small titles, they had no wealth or home and relied on their skill to make friends in order to maintain their lifestyle
- no tutors were to be had for eilarsas, besides the occasional lesson when he sat in with the child of one of his parent's friends
- mostly self-taught on a second-hand lute
- as he grew older, it was expected that he should support himself on his own, and he began work as a tutor, a court musician, and as a common bard as needed
- always wanted to work in theatre but never found a sponsor
- used to having to be fake in order to get people to like him (as he relied on this for food)
half his charm was that he could sit upon a bigger dragon's shoulder to provide his wit. while this saved on the price of cloth, it provided the challenge of keeping himself sweet-smelling.
he couldn't afford proper perfumes, the sort made of ambergris and labyrinthian flora that cost hundreds of gems for a vial. instead he went as close to the starwood as he dared, slow walks up and down the pathway to gather the half-faded petals that fell from the trees. boiled in a pot of water, he didn't know if that even counted as an essence of starwood, but that was what he wore.
he did this often. it was too nerve-wracking to raid his host's atriums and flowerbeds, and gods know what he'd do during winter, so atleast once a week, he went to see what he could find. even if he wasn't hunting, he didn't want to grate upon his host's nerves by staying indoors, so he spent long hours in the starwood.
the groundskeepers learned to not pay him any heed, and the woodsdragons came looking instead.
every stick in the forest belonged to one lord or another, but the groundskeepers where busy, hunting down poachers, to root faes and veilspuns out of their dens. they could slip away easier, taking less and requiring more effort to catch, that they just let them be half the time.
another veilspun came to sit with him on his bench, and who could say how many of her kin were watching from the trees? she sat besides him, in silence for a long while, before asking if he'd like better than shuffling around for fallen petals.
maidens blush, madame snapdragons, all types of roses. precious flowers, fresh, from deeper in the starwood. all belonging to the lordlings who owned the wood.
he thought her stoic at first, and mazaiesa was a quiet sort, but he soon found that it was easy to make her face flush pink with even the mildest of teases. when he wrote her his first song, she
