Ino is a Kunoichi from Konoha. She was born in the Yamanaka-Clan.
She was a popular student and always cared for her looks. When she was a child she befriended Sakura who was bullied by other children. Ino taught her to be more self-confident and encouraged her to embrace her flaws. But when both girls started having a crush on Sasuke they became rivals, although still caring for each other.
Ino became part of Team Asuma and with her team allies she formed the Ino-Shika-Cho-Trio. Thanks to Shikamaru they always had a good battle plan and formed a strong bond rather quickly. Although she sometimes mocked Choji for his appearance, Ino is a kind but blunt person.
Ino often helped in her parent's flower shop. She does know a lot about flowers.

Ino is very skilled with controlling her chakra. Her chakra is a sensor-type which means she can sense other people's chakra and detect changes in the chakra. She rarely uses close combat, her strengths are Earth and Water Ninjutsu as well as her clan's Kekkei-Genkei: The Mind Body Switch Technique. With this technique she can take over another person's body or see into the other person's mind. She later learns to communicate telepathically with allies, convey memories or feelings to them.
While using the technique her own body gets vulnerable and needs protection.
She always was a very intelligent student and later learned how to be a medic-nin.
