Biography
Myosotis, or forget-me-not, turned what would have been a tragic event into a curious one. Sulor, Daphne’s old lover had passed away due to a sudden and traumatic heart attack, which killed her almost immediately. Daphne was heartbroken, and was now unable to care for most of her children, so she sent them off to work with various deities. Sulor was a humble lady, and as such didn’t leave much behind for her family, save for an old copper ring, with a dazzling cerulean blue sapphire embedded into it. It was the most expensive thing she owned, and as it was her engagement ring, she cherished it. Daphne, well aware of the ring’s importance, decided to keep it with her at all times to remind her of her wife, though she couldn’t wear it as it was much, much too big for her.
It came as quite a surprise when Daphne, taking the ring out of its box, noticed it start to move on its own. At first it just shook a little, which made Daphne suspect a small earthquake, until she realized that it was the only thing shaking. She knew it definitely wasn’t an earthquake when the ring began morphing, and growing into something. She watched in bewilderment as the copper thing shifted from a ring, to another fae. She wondered if this was her wife’s doing, enchanting the ring like that. Regardless, after attempting to speak or communicate somehow with the fae and getting no response, she brought the fae to the village mage.
Merionwen was not quite sure what to make of the copper creature, and consulted with her old books on enchanted object. Upon doing a little digging, she realized that this was a jewelry box fae, which had become a rare occurrence over the years. She explained to Daphne that likely, her wife’s soul had possessed the ring, though she herself would be unable to communicate to her, or anyone else. Still, Daphne found comfort in the creature, and made sure to treat them with utmost care and affection. She hoped that somewhere in there, her husband was indeed there, and could continue to see her live her life. She named the fae Myosotis, the Latin word for forget-me-not, which was not only her favorite flower, but she also hoped the name would continue to remind her of her. Regardless, she found comfort in the creature and wished to, someday, make them fully sentient. Or at least be able to communicate somehow. For now, though, she was content knowing that her wife was never truly gone.
