Friehalt
The Wraith

earthmidsmall.png

If one got sick, they would all get sick. If one died in battle, the others would have to fight the same challenge. Bruises on one tended to show on the others. Such was the curse of the three brothers, soul-bonded to save one, Mantel. Friehalt knew in his heart that Mantel wasn't to blame for the curse that bonded their lives together... but he was far less kind-natured than their third brother Spell, and he couldn't help but resent how much weaker his constitution became just to preserve Mantel's life. When Mantel passed, Friehalt couldn't help but be a little relieved. For a few blessed days, the curse on the other two was lifted.

And then Spell stumbled, and Friehalt became covered in bruises. The curse had been gone when Mantel died, but somehow, some way, Mantel had managed to cheat death again. It made Friehalt momentarily angry, but he moved past it: enjoying time with his grandmother, and eventually finding a mate to share his life with. Life was short and never a guarantee during a pandemic, though, and soon enough Friehalt found himself passing into the beyond. He hoped, desperately, that the curse binding the brothers would finally die with him.

Unfortunately, just like Mantel before him, Friehalt was sadly mistaken. As he passed, he felt two tugs on his soul. One was Spell, still living, still thriving. One was a sickly energy, aflame with battle-rage; illness could not ravage an undead body, so Mantel had been hit with the insatiable battle-rage that would've hit them all if Friehalt had died in the heat of battle. Friehalt made his way toward the rampaging lich, fascinated with the way that undeath had changed his brother. Somehow, Friehalt knew that Mantel hadn't chosen this any more than he'd chosen the curse to begin with.

But that didn't stop Friehalt from haunting the absolute hell out of him anyway. Eventually, very eventually, the brothers learned to get along. Mantel taught Friehalt a lot of the quirks of how to impact the world as a wraith, and Friehalt used his instinctive knowledge to find where other spirits had recently passed on... so Mantel could use their recently-vacated bodies as material for zombies, or as food.

Forever was a very, very long time to hold a grudge, after all, and Mantel's poor luck at being snagged by a necromancer had dragged all their fates into the realm of undeath. Nothing for it now but to have some fun after he died. Scaring the living, annoying his brother, helping with clerical work at the business, and waiting for Spell to join them.

These days, since the abject failure (aka freezing to death) of all the original living Zombocorp members except Fireclaw, Friehalt has decided that he's just never gonna let Mantel live it down. Haunting his big stupid brother forever and laughing at his big stupid failures makes Friehalt happier than anything has ever made him.

Day 57 - 117
Cause of death: Succumbed to virus

Friehalt adored his grandmother Tanier and often jokingly told her they are twins because they look so much alike. He was cursed at birth: his fate was tied to that of his brothers.

Terran and Selenay just got back from the Earth realm with their baby boys! And I have to admit... I cheated a little bit on the cointoss. One of them was born with multi-gaze, and it was also the only one that failed his cointoss... So I decided to let him live, but now he and his brothers are all cursed. Meaning their fates are now tied together: if one of them gets sick they all get sick. If one of them dies in the coliseum, the others will have to perform the same battlestreak as their deceased brother.
