U N N A M E D benevolent • graceful • dignified «- - - - - - - - - - - - - ❖ - - - - - - - - - - - - -» autumn spirit. he appears and begins his ritual in the early fall months - he is the reason the leaves begin to change color, making for some of the most beautiful scenery. he creates gorgeous swaths of color in the groves; it is his tears that cause the trees to begin their transformation. a few drops on their roots begins the metamorphosis. he does this with grace, dignity, and benevolence. he often leaves small offerings for the animals which must begin to prepare for their hibernations. when asked if it saddens him that he ushers in the end of spring and summer - months of bounty and warmth - with decay and chill, his eyes sparkle thoughtfully. he does not see himself as a destroyer. no, he says, it is the circle of life and he is merely a part of it. flowers cannot bloom all year long. the trees, the plants, the world herself needs to rest. just as we all need room to breathe and grow, so does she. like a phoenix, death and rebirth are inevitable. the plants that grow next spring will be as lovely, and will smell as sweet. if every day were warm and sunny, you may forget how special they felt after days of snow. you may forget how beautiful it is to watch the world wake up. it is these months between - when the world is sleeping - that she is at her most fragile. he is proud to be her guardian. recently, he has come to befriend a couple of dragons - another autumn spirit such as himself, sparrow. she seems troubled by her powers, something he hopes to ease as he teaches her the importance of her duties. he feels quite close to her and hopes she feels the same, though she doesn't speak of it. as well, he has met a young flowering spirit. although their abilities are vastly different, infact they're quite opposed, both of them understand how much the other means to their equilibrium and enjoy spending time together.
