Sage is an appreciator of the arts. Less specifically that of grand paintings and marble statues, but of the natural beauty of every day things in all their flaws. It was his husband, Bayou, who inspired this state-of-mind. Everything in Bayou's hut and everything about him was imperfect. Not a single thing was in place nor orderly. It was just the way that old snapper liked it, and by osmosis, Sage began to like it as well, so much so he began to study the ever underappreciated wabi-sabi; a lifestyle centered around the imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. When his mate one day suggested they move from their humble abode in the Gladeveins to the cracks and crags of Dragonhome, he was immediately on-board with the idea. Finding a place to settle down was admittedly difficult. Neither of them were acclimated to the climate, and his husband was quite uncomfortable with the sheer lack of water. On their voyage, they were met by Clan Rosebud's head of the guard, Bhaltair, who found them crossing the borders of their territory. He listened to their plight, and offered them a chance to rest within the clan for some days, until they got their bearings. They were greeted warmly by the ragtag group of dragons that made up this clan, and Sage asked around for a waterborn to seek help from. This led him to Coastal, who upon hearing him out, immediately showed him to a place in the shadow of the cliffs where shallow water spotted the ground. It wasn't at all pretty by conventional standards, and that's what Sage found so charming about it. Over the next year, the home they built there expanded into more than just a living space. Sage's hobby of tea-making had flourished into a business, where the locals could rest and rejuvenate. An oasis in an otherwise bone-dry landscape. Making tea was something he had picked up while watching Bayou brew his potions every night. Although he grows what he can around the small lakes by their tea shop, he relies primarily on the shipments of herbs and such that Bayou orders from the Viridian Labyrinth. Thankfully, that leaves him more time to work on his kintsugi pottery. |
