BAYOU

When you venture into a swamp, wading through the opaque waters, wet trees draped and brushing your shoulders, Bayou is exactly what you expect to stumble upon. An exaggerated character with mud on his stompers and an attention span that always seems to be 5 minutes ahead. Although appearing intimidating in the way he swings his staff and his bold, ornery expressions, he couldn't be a more pleasant stranger. Spending an evening in his hut is like visiting a favorite uncle you haven't seen in years. He'll go on and on with a long chain of anecdotes seemingly connected in that endearing drawl of his. And though finding a break in his tales to share one of your own may feel like trying to stop a train at full speed, he's happy to lend an ear, and will often remember others' stories for years after — which only adds to his already massive repertoire of yarns. His mate, Sage, was so instantly charmed by the snapper upon meeting him, that the two become a fast pair without indecent at all. It's only after the tundra had heard everything Bayou had to say twiceover, and lived in his hut for several seasons, did the swamp-dweller begin to wonder if he liked him in that special sort of way. One can imagine the look on the snapper's face when Sage told him they had been mates for over a year at that point. He still won't let Bayou live it down. Some years into their relationship, Bayou had that typical snapper yearning to move somewhere new; specifically, his breed's birthplace of Dragonhome. However, he wasn't quite prepared for how dry the air was, and how rough the ground beneath his feet, thus he felt irritable and sickly upon arriving. Clan Rosebud took him and his husband in to care for them until they could adjust and find a place to settle down. Local doctor and one of the former heads of the clan, Curantis, was especially hospitable and tended to him over the weekend after their arrival. Bayou having a tundra mate, and Curantis having a snapper mate, meant the two had a lot in common and many stories to pass the time. While Bayou was recovering, Sage had been led to a spattering of watering holes in the shadow of a cliff where the two of them could settle down. Bayou wasn't keen on it at first, but as the two built their hut amidst those shallow lakes, and as Bayou surrounded himself with more and more knick-knacks, and grew close to their new clanmates, he accepted this place as his home. He's now back to brewing potions, made all the more exciting by the new ingredients found in Dragonhome, and helps run his husband's tea shop. When he isn't toiling over a cauldron or talking someone's ear off, that is. |
