Fel collapses onto the ground, talons digging into the soft volcanic ash. She presses her head to the ash, coating her horns in it. She heaves a sob, nearly choking on her own agony. Tears run down her snout as she throws her head to the sky and screams. Why? When the volcano erupted, throwing ash and smoke everywhere. Rocks fell from the sky and destroyed everything. They destroyed Fel’s home and Fel’s family, leaving her. Leaving just her.
Fel chokes back another sob. Blood runs down the ash causing it to clump together and cover her talons and feet. After a few minutes to calm down, Fel stands up shakily. She takes a few deep breaths and stretches out her wings. She pushes off the soft ground sending ash all over. She decides she cannot sit and mope forever. There is much to be done and it cannot be done from the ruins of her home.
Fel spends a great deal of her time traveling. Not content with anything she sees, she moves quickly from clan to clan. Despite her best efforts, nothing she does quite feels like home. Fel feels lost. She can’t quite fit in anywhere. Everywhere she goes, she simply feels like a parasite. Her belief in herself dwindles more and more. She was once a powerful guardian, now, she is without charge, without home, and without purpose.
Fel eventually crashlands in the Sunbeam Ruins. After traveling for much longer than she ever wanted to, she needs a warm meal and a soft bed. A kind voice wouldn’t hurt either. What she finds though, is absolute radiance. Like a cool breeze on a summer day, Fel is revitalized. There, in a field, tearing apart training dummies with her talons, is them. Their beauty is more blinding than the midday sun off the sea.
Something clicks inside Fel. Her search is over. She can be content. She found her charge. She can finally feel whole. She can finally have her home again. Fel stares down at the ground. A goofy smile sits upon her face and tears filled her eyes. She takes a deep breath, plucks a beautiful white flower from the ground and approaches the first day of forever.
