REX stumbles across uneven and rocky ground. Blood coats their talons and scales. It’s in their eyes and dripping down their snout. They really didn’t intend for things to go so horribly, but it was absolutely necessary. They shake the cricks out of their wings and look down at the ground. The sun beats unbearably down on the Abiding Boneyard. REX looks behind herself to see the tracks she leaves.

Of course, her own talons leave tracks, but even more definite is the drag marks. A bag. A rather large bag, dripping with blood, being dragged across the hot deathlands of the Boneyard by a small mirror drenched in the same blood dripping from the bag. She had to do it, really. They left her no choice.

REX had to be the leader of the clan. Her parents were leaving the clan soon to go their separate ways and there needed to be a successor. REX was the youngest, but they knew they were the most capable. They knew they were. So, they did the only logical thing. They invited their siblings far from the clan, far from the Wyrmwound, deep in the Boneyard. Then, she murdered them all. She didn’t expect such a struggle, but it didn’t matter anyway.

So, REX continues on their journey back to the clan. Back with their spoils to share what they had done. To make everyone proud of them. When they arrive at the clan, they are lorded and hailed, just as they knew they would be. They are recognized as the leader. Everyone knows. There is no doubt amongst minds that REX is the one true leader. She always has been and she always will be.

As a testament to her ascension to greatness, she builds her throne out of the bones of her fallen siblings and resting atop the small bones of the tiny species, she places a ridgeback skull. The skull of her greatest prey is her seat and the bones of her siblings are her armrests.

No one denies the kind of leader REX is. They are stalwart and strong. They are unyielding and unfaltering. They are everything a clan could need. REX is strong. REX is the strongest. She tears through enemies with her bare talons. She yanks out throats with nothing more than her fangs. She is everything anyone could ever need. REX is the perfect leader.
