______ The oldest of Journey and Wanderlust's children, Solstice is a gentle, kind dragoness. This isn't to say she doesn't have a mischievous stream, but generally she is of an even temperament, and this makes her an ideal candidate for a caretaker. When she was old enough, Shiva approached her with the offer to become the caretaker of the network's hatchlings. Overjoyed with the prospect of working with and teaching younglings, Solstice accepted. Her nature attracted the rather gruff and stingy Set to her, and through great effort, he won her over and earned her parents' approval.

______ "Come on Set! Just a bit further!"

She called to the carnage ichor following her at a much more sedate pace, watching her with what some may call a sour expression, but that she knew was in fact, a fond one. She danced paw to paw, halfway up a 'hill' as she waited for her companion to catch-up.

"Beloved, there is no need to rush. We have a full night to waste."

"And here I thought you liked things to be done quickly and efficiently?"

She teased, lightly headbutting his shoulder when he got close enough. This made Set laugh, not his cruel one that new recruits heard when they messed up, or the humorless one he had when dealing with convicts. No this one was full of life and warmth, and only Solstice ever got to hear it.

"Usually you would be correct, beloved, but I prefer to draw out our time together. We don't get as much as I would like."

She hummed in understanding, it wasn't his fault, he had a lot to do as the third in command of Oculus' prison. Side eyeing him, she gave a cheeky smile and poked his shoulder.

"Tag, you're it!"

She took off, giggling as she did, and this time he chased after her. He managed to catch her at the top of the hill, the two rolling and laughing. When they finally paused their play wrestling, they sat up, leaning on one another.

"Look, this is what I wanted to show you."

She pointed back the way that they had come from and he felt his breath catch in his throat. The entirety of the wastes stretched out before them, the soft green glow of the bile lakes and lights of the many clans that dotted the land made him realize just how alive the goddess's domain was.

"This is my favourite spot, I don't really bring anyone with me when I come up here. But I wanted to share it with you."

Set didn't reply, but he didn't need to. And Solstice smiled, snuggling into his side.
