Biography
||The Insect Overseer||
Within a slightly quieter part of the lair, sloping down into the depths and behind a series of netted curtains lies Ecto’s oasis as she calls it. Less of an oasis for most and more of a make shift swamp, Ecto lounges in the middle of a small pond filled to the brim with plant life and more importantly; swarming with insects. A small bell on a string alerts her to visitors to her section of the hoard. Her job is maintaining a pristine environment for the live insects that will eventually become various members of the lairs dinner. Not every bug is kept alive seeing as, well, not every one is caught without incident but to keep them fresh it’s best to keep as many alive and kicking as possible. Plus a helpful side effect of having an insect sanctuary is that some breed making it much easier to maintain stock. A bogsneaks solitary nature and lack of bug based diet makes them a great choice for maintaining an insect hoard.
Being a nature dragon, Ecto has no trouble keeping up an impressive environment for herself and the hoard to thrive in. Her partner Flubb’s is the only one she in trusts with keeping the place under control when she goes to stretch her wings and get a bite to eat herself. Though he does tend to get several members of the hoard stuck within him in her absence, but that’s just part of the fun. His frog friends though have to go with her while he’s inside though in case of inventory loss. Another helpful ability of hers is her softly glowing tail, usually it is submerged within her pond but she can make it glow impressively bright, which can really keep the inventory distracted. Particularly useful for when someone crashes through all her careful netting and half the hoard attempts to make their swift exit.
Personality wise Ecto is quite coy, she enjoys a good conversation but tends to like listening rather than contributing. Some talkative dragons like to pay her a visit, sitting between the net curtains and just talking with her, maybe a bit of gossip or something interesting that’s going on within the lair and she really appreciates it.
Some have commented on her slimy familiars similarity to her mate and she tends to brush it off, often insisting her wet environment is perfect for it. It also guards the door and jumps in the way of would be escapees or indeed onto those who don’t have permission to enter. The gooey lump sits right by the entrance looking rather similar to a moss ball at first glance but many a few cheeky hatchlings have been jumped by them and marked by the hard to remove ooze so there’s no escaping a telling off once they’ve been caught.
