Occupation: Doctor Details: Koshka started off as a doctor in Calliope. One day she decided she was better suited to a life on the road. All her services are donation-based to make care accessible to all. No one knows how she's able to keep her practice running on a system like this but she manages to be able to provide for herself, hire an assistant, and pay her caravan fees every month. Is she secretly rich? Who knows. |

Koshka's family lived in Calliope for generations. Rumor has it that her family was one of the founding members of the city. That's not necessarily true, but her ancestors did play a big part in the later development of the city and the Aergate. In fact, her family paid for its construction many years ago. Koshka's family has generational wealth that you can only imagine.
Now her family runs the university in Calliope. Her mother is the president of the board and her father is one of the head doctors at the affiliated hospital. As you might imagine, this meant that they were very busy and important dragons. As a hatchling, Koshka was attended to by multiple wet nurses. These dragons would see to her every need as she grew up. She would never be allowed outside and she'd rarely get to see her parents.
Koshka was mild-mannered, she was taught to be so. Her expected path in life was to either take over the university from her mother or follow in the footsteps of her father and become a doctor. She decided on the latter.
University life was very difficult for Koshka. Her strict upbringing limited her interactions with others that she didn't know how to make any friends. Eventually, she met Atherr, a guardian studying to become an anthropologist. Atherr was kind and patient with Koshka and the two of them slowly became friends. Koshka started to break out of her shell and show her true personality.
Atherr introduced Koshka to new things during their time together. It was Atherr that first implanted the idea in Koshka to become a traveling doctor. They both graduated at the same time and luckily, both of them would be staying at the same university to continue into higher education. Again, Atherr kept pushing Koshka to finish her studies and become a traveling doctor. Ultimately though, Koshka decided to stay in Calliope to appease her parents.
Atherr became a field researcher which meant that she'd be traveling all over Sornieth for work. She and Koskha eventually lost touch. Koshka had become a doctor at the university hospital alongside her father. She worked there for a few years and reverted back to her mild-mannered ways. It was as if she had lost herself.
One day out of the blue, Koshka received a postcard from Atherr. It read:
I wish you were here! I just stopped by a small village on the border between the Southern Icefields and the Starfall Isle. I just joined up with a curious bunch calling themselves the Emerald Skies Caravan. They are looking for a doctor to take with them on their travels and I thought of you. If you're interested let me know! Sounds like they actually have a home base in Calliope City!
This stirred up deep emotions within Koshka that she didn't realize she had. Suddenly she started to feel restless and dissatisfied with her life. She wanted to travel the world and to see her friend again. Koshka made up her mind. She decided to leave her life behind.
Now Koshka works as the caravan doctor for Emerald Skies. At first, her parents didn't approve of this. They wanted her to get married and settle down to have her own hatchlings in the future. To them, Koshka didn't seem suited to a life traversing the world. But Koshka was determined. She managed to convince her parents that she'd be helping the dragons of the world by bringing her services to them. She promised that she wouldn't bring shame to her family and that, when she was ready, she would come back and do what they asked.
It's been a few years now and her parents have accepted her decision to stay with the caravan. They knew something like this would happen and came to terms with it. Koshka wanted to be happy and her family understood that this was what made her the happiest. Atherr travels with the caravan now as well. The two of them rekindled their friendship and now are inseparable.
