THEME SONG: Constellations
by the oh hellos

Uh-oh, looks like this aspiring astronomer wandered a little too far from her home lair (546245, inkfrog), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair via crossroads, send her to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here (warning you will get another traveler in return if you do this), or this Hub if you don't want another traveler in return! This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful! You are also free to breed this dragon while it is in your possession.

Important note: Please only trade this dragon on travelling dragon threads, as opposed to places such as the Auction House.

Travel Log
arcanemidsmall.png

November 7, 2020
Dear Journal;
I have decided that today is the day I'm gonna go travel the world and see all the stars,
and follow in the foot-steps of my kin. I've heard many stories of my family and the stars they descend from. I hope by the time I return, the light house my clan was building is finished. I start my journey soon so I'll write when I can, Goodbye!
Love,
Orion

Dear Journal;

I've come across the borders of the Scarred Wasteland and set up my expedition in a desolate, peaceful spot within the Abiding Boneyard. With some large curved bones and driftwood logs, I was able to make a temporary den of sorts. With a piece of parchment, I mapped out the constellations above me that first night. I was slightly distracted by the faint smoke in the distance, which was strange, because I didn't see any Clans or dragons of any kind near my base. Then, I caught sight of a silhouette in that direction. It looked like....a....Pearcatcher?
  • Considering the body shape, it looked like one, but, on closer inspection, it had eight legs?!?
  • And.....antennae?
  • SIX WINGS!?! By the Gods, what was that thing? A pair of normal (if they can be called normal) wings with the other two pairs being dark golden insect wings.

Such a creature must be drawn and classified. I have a sketch for those who seek knowledge of what I saw, but fear of the unknown is crawling through my skin, so I will be leaving these graveyards tomorrow morning for a more, secure and possibly nicer location to set up camp.

Love,
Orion

Dear Journal;

Leaving the Scarred Wasteland behind, I have travelled south, towards the Windswept Plateau. I've heard that it's one of the most peaceful territories in Sornieth, so I hope my journey across will be a breeze! The winds hum a peculiar tune across the reeds as I settle on a nice, stable spot on the Reedcleft Ascent. It was disappointing that the night sky is obscured by a think blanket of clouds.

My hypothesis is that the night sky is the clearest at the eye of the Twisting Crescendo, but that's just wishful thinking. I'll still be heading further south. I've never considered myself to be good at flying, but the winds are forcing me off the the ground as I try to traverse the lands. It wasn't long before I was swept up and trapped within the great storm, with no control of my wings.

Is this the end of my journey? Being torn up by the vortex with no escape in sight? It wasn't long before I was snatched up by another dragon, as they pulled me out from the storm. As they gently placed me down to safety, I've got a better look on them.

"What are you doing here? Hatchlings aren't supposed to enter the Twisting Crescendo."

She had a stern look on her face. I've apologised to the Ridgeback for entering her territory, and promised to leave.

"I've seen too many grown dragons surrender to this storm, and it's won't be a pretty sight to watch someone like you having your wings torn apart by those winds."

The Ridgeback introduced herself as Aquarius , with scales of shifting blue and green and had a bright green outfit. She has invited me to stay in her lair near the Ascent for a rest. For what's she's done, I think I can trust her. She's told me that few dragons that were from Starfall Isles reside in this clan too, maybe I can ask them where the best star sighting spots are in these Windswept lands.

Dear Journal;

I've been shedding a lot recently, but my wings feel a lot heavier and more feathery. I think I'm finally outgrowing my awkward hatchling phase! However, Aquarius still won't leave me alone, and told me that I am still an incompetent flyer, still not good enough to fly into the storm again. I've also had some chatter with the dragons that were formerly from the Starfall Isles and joined the clan later on. They've told me that the above the storm, is the Cloudsong, where the sky is clear and there are platforms for star-seekers to map out their stars in this territory. I could go for another adventure, granted that maybe Aquarius could take me there as well.

UPDATE: I've told Aquarius about the stars at the Cloudsong and wanted to fly up there, she seems annoyed, but she'll let me up there if she can supervise my flying skills. I'm so excited to see the night sky with such clarity!

Love,
Orion

Dear Journal;

My entry is a little late, but my journey to the Cloudsong was fun! I really do feel like I'm flying along with the stars over there. It's also a surprisingly safer than the Crescendo because there are platforms to stand on, so I had to take multiple trips so that I can fully map out my star chart. Aquarius seems really confused about what I was doing, but she's rather patient. I think I am ready to take flight on my next journey, to another place with more stars to seek. I bid goodbye to the hospitable clan and Aquarius who let me stay their den for a while. As I looked into the rivers of the Ascent, I was surprised to see how much I've grown ever since I entered the Windswept Plateau. My wings feel a lot larger, and sturdier, and I can easily soar to greater heights!

Dear Journal;

I’ve taken my travels down south for a bit during these lovely winter days. I stumbled upon some nice people a while back, they gave me food and shelter and a place for me to catch on some much needed rest. After spending a few days with them I’ve travelled around again for a few weeks before doing a bit of sight seeing at the Shifting Expanse. Lovely weather they have..

Orion

Dear Journal;

I’ve been roaming the Shifting Expanse for a good while now. What a dreadful place! Storm clouds are perpetually blocking out the stars of the night sky; how do the dragons here live like this, without being able to see the wonders of the cosmos? And there’s always lightning flashing, so it’s bright as day even during the night. In fact, I don’t think the dragons that live here can even differentiate night and day. And then there’s the fact that this entire territory is a desert... it must be miserable to live here.

There was also a nasty Pearlcatcher here, like the one I saw in my earlier travels, although she was quite far from the the Scarred Wasteland. Unfortunately, she saw me, and decided to attack me! I would’ve died if this fierce Ridgeback didn’t appear and drive the abomination back with her trident. That was far too close of a call for comfort.

Anyways, the Ridgeback took me to her clan, which resided in the parched Carrion Canyon. Makes me wonder where their water comes from. (Rumor has it Lightning dragons can pull out moisture from thin air using a technology known as the vaporator... alas, this clan obtains their water from underground sinkholes, oases, and “borrowed” water from the Sunbeam Ruins. Not quite as exciting.)

Dear Journal;

The clan let me stay for a good while to let me study the region; the weather patterns here are quite intriguing. Unfortunately, what the clan tells me is true: the storm clouds never let up. They only get to see the sky on trips outside the Shifting Expanse. Quite sad.

Oh, and it almost never rains; flash flooding is common during the wet season, they tell me.

Well, I must now be on my way; the tribe has given me supplies for my journey. Quite nice of them.

Love,
Orion

P.S. The Lightning clans can indeed differentiate between day and night, by use of clocks.

Dear Journal,

I might never visit the Scarred Wastland again due to this clans messanger, Darkrai. But she did teach me a lot about the stars here. Darkrai said that the stars are actually where she's from. What. Aperently she never told anyone else about that before. Darkrai also said that the only constellation she recognized from her world here was "Giratina", whatever that is, and pointed it out.

Besides that, I had a very awkward time with the clan of Nightmare Plague. All the bane feathers scattered around, the surprise of finding a scarf tangled in the queen's crown, which she told me I could have, and eating a luna mith leg for the first time ever. Oh, and this one gaoler gave me a drone to help me study the weather. I like jellyfish now.

Well, I think it's finally time to go home.

Love,
Orion

Dear Journal,

After my departure from the last clan, I started off towards the tangled wood where my home clan lie. It had been a long time, and I was anxious to see what had changed. The journey was long, but it was worth seeing a few familiar faces, along with the finished lighthouse that stood proudly on the seaside. I even met some of my kin from the stars, I learned his name was DawnOfTheSun and although he was a bit...off I enjoyed the time we spent together. I stayed for the duration of Night of the Nocturne, and gained lovely taildecor. But after the celebration ended I felt the call of the stars, and the adventure that entails.

Dear Journal,

I have travelled far and wide while on my journey! I’ve seen many things! A lot of nights I have spent watching the stars hoping to catch a glimpse of a shooting star to make a wish. It may seem childish but one should always have faith in what they believe.
