Elvira's Evanescence
...a shy forest spirit, flitting from tree to tree, wanting to be loved but afraid to be seen...

One wonders if Elvira's social capabilities ever stood a chance. Raised by two parents far more interested in bickering than socializing their hatchling, Elvira learned to formulate friendships and initiate conversations solely through text. Much more interested in books than dragons, she was soon swept away by fantastical ideas of romance, friendship, and adventure - standards she could scarcely hope to keep herself to the longer she saw herself in her parents' care. She snuck away to rough it on her own, and doubts the two ever noticed her absence. Since then, Elvira has established a somewhat private library in the heart of the Windswept Plateau, findable only by the most determined of dragons. She'll entertain visitors - just don't expect any riveting conversation on her end. A small part of her thinks that one day, a prince is bound to find her within the hyperbolic castle she's built around herself...

They sit a world away,
Spitting out their shining words
I drink them in like water
On a dying dragon’s throat
Store them deep inside
Scatter them like stars
Dance with them,
Laugh with them,
But I say nothing.
Silence from my lips,
Head in the clouds,
Outside it starts to rain
And the winds call them away.
I feel myself fall again,
The draw of those pages
I surround myself with them
The drumbeat of rain on the roof-
It hypnotizes me.
Someday someone will fly through the storm
Break down my walls
Save me from my fortress of solitude
Make me their princess
Their only love
The winds will still for us
They will never leave me.

~
ambivalent, seemingly frigid
insistently platonic, rigid;
instead of friends, inside her mind,
she finds smooth words to hide behind.
Far away from fighting mates,
she hopes, somewhere, true love awaits;
behind her books, gracefully signed,
her trauma leaves life to the Fates

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” – Charles W. Eliot “Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people – people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.” – E.B. White |
“I love books. I adore everything about them. I love the feel of the pages on my fingertips. They are light enough to carry, yet so heavy with worlds and ideas. I love the sound of the pages flicking against my fingers. Print against fingerprints. Books make people quiet, yet they are so loud.”
– Nnedi Okorafor “A book is a dream you hold in your hands.” – Neil Gaiman |

This is difficult, but I thinkkk
Elvira is my favourite from your lair, i'm a sucker for wind spirals, and you've somehow made me like a dragon with a dark thylacine.

Your girl looks very mysterious! I'd definitely think she's living somewhere in the forest, either making potions, helping injured animals or spying for someone...
