Personality: Desmond is a true entertainer, using magic and some natural slight of hand to make his tricks seem to be so much more. he can fast talk with the best of them and absolutely loves to regale those around him with his stories mostly of himself and the 'adventures' he's been on. he is loyal to his friends and loves dragging them on his adventures- willing or not, planned or not! he's a sweet, gentlemanly fella with a big sense of chivalry.

Background: He left his family on good terms, they wished him well even as he left with the goal of being a magician in mind, traveling was lonely for him and he was alone most of the time and even when he had company it was a short lived and many of them seemed off put by him for some reason he couldn't understand, he only wanted a friend.
He would stop at clans for directions, supplies, and on occasion to earn a bit of coin before continuing his travels. he was making his way to the next clan when he was attacked and caught, tied up and kept in a cave with a dragoness, he had never been so scared in all his life but he started talking to the dragoness and found out her name was Consuela.

He and Consuela were kept for a few weeks before a commotion caught his attention and he smiled thinking someone had come looking for him. he was thrilled and relieved when a dragoness and drake came in, the dragoness, Kaliska, was gentle and kind like a mama should be in his opinion while the Drake, Jacob, was gruff and combative, but protective like a big brother or a pa should be in his mind; Kaliska was quick to free them.
He tried helping, but weapons weren't really his specialty and the sparkles he could summon didn't do much. Kaliska and Jacob finished the fight and lead them back to the near by clan, Kaliska leaned on Jacob, but also let Desmond help her a little as they walked. the clan was bustling and Desmond was happy to walk with Kaliska and Jacob to the healer before parting ways.

He was quick to find a place he could stay and earn a little coin with his tricks which was all he really wanted at that point. he was content to earn a little and spend time with Kaliska and Jacob, although the other male seemed more annoyed with him which was almost as good and fun none the less even if being friends was preferable.
He went with Jacob and Kaliska when they left, encouraging Consuela to come with them as well when they left. they got to the kingdom and they each went to find their own places within the clan, he chose to entertain in the Tavern while Consuela took to spending time with the gossips and Mitne, one of the ruling dragons' mates; Kaliska took to fortune telling and Jacob took to hunting and selling most of what he caught.

It was months later that Jacob spoke about a trip outside of the kingdom and several days travel, Desmond was excited for the chance to travel with his friends again. he was surprised when Consuela went with them, even being escorted to the entrance by several from the ruling family which both impressed and frightened Desmond. the beginning of their journey was peaceful and enjoyable, days passing without trouble, hunting was good and Kaliska's cooking was increadable even without the spices the town had to offer readily.
A group of centaur attacked them out of no where and focused their aggression on Kaliska, they all fought with everything they had. hearing Kaliska cry out Desmond bristled as he moved to try to protect her until he saw Jacob had already moved to see if she was alright, with that assurance Desmond focused on their attackers.

They were outnumbered and tiering when Desmond heard Jacob yell "Kaliska?!" and black, inky magic crashed into the centaur sending them flying into anything and everything and leaving cuts and wounds. Desmond turned to see Kaliska staring with blank hatred at the centaur, her eyes were black and depthless as she scowled. Desmond felt true fear, as the dragoness started and that black magic pulsed again with her rage.
Consuela had killed the centaur, once the last one was felled Kaliska went limp and Jacob caught her while Desmond ran to get bedding for her and found a cave they could spend the night in. Desmond made a quick bed and helped Jacob settle Kaliska in it before the male made soup, which was the only thing he could make without burning. when she woke Desmond gave her some soup and she told them a sad story, it was all the sadder being it was her story.

When they got back to the kingdom they went back to their normal, mundane lives yet made time to eat together at least once a day. it was one day when they had met for dinner when a stranger came to their camp and asked to eat with them, they welcomed him and started talking. they found the stranger, Darling, was hunting for one Jacob Starling for attempted murder and robbery, Jacob froze as if looking into the mouth of a hungry wolf.
Darling left their camp none the wiser and it was Jacob's turn to explain, admitting to having stole, but not the attempted murder. Desmond was worried for his new makeshift family, he hated seeing Ma Kaliska so sad and worried and Jacob didn't deserve this new worry, but with Darling on his way without ever knowing Jacob was the one he was looking for. he met Tatianna not long after and fell for the odd dragoness, he took to trying to impress her with his magic and silly performances and often left her giggling helplessly; he was thrilled when she chose to spend time with him.
They were safe for now.
