PERSONALITY & QUIRKS

Jei has an alluring aura, something that draws others in. She can switch her identity and personality in a second and become someone you feel like trusting. Despite this, Jei cares for only those that are family to her and willing to do any sort of crafty, shifty job to protect them.
Jei redeemed a love for cooking after spending her time in the Huntress’s gallery. This causes her to seek out making meals when stressed or in doubt, something Shipwright continually appreciates. Jei also shares the interest in getting revenge on the blasted “good for nothin” Baron that had taken down her last family. Seeking rumors and tales of this notorious ship while relaying it back to Shipwright in an attempt to pin down the galleon. While not yet successful the pair believe they’re getting close and determinedly focus on the task whenever they can.

ABOUT

History
Jei was born on the edge of Foxfire Bramble, her clan territory practically in the Driftwood Drag. Her eyes marked her as an outcast immediately as her clan and family preferred the dark eyes that marked the favor the Shadowbinder. Because of this Jei’s childhood was spent hiding from her clan or stealing what she needed for food once her mother left. Her father taught her that she was unwanted and ignored Jei as much as possible. Jei taught herself to become scarce and if she wanted to know anything about life outside her clan, she’d have to listen in corners of taverns and inns for gossip. Her father only took interest when she showed signs of being pretty, attempting to mate her off. The only reason Jei escaped in time was because she overheard her father and the clan leader discussing her future at the tavern Jei loved to visit for gossip.
Jei escaped and found a ship willing to take her to Flotsam Town. By this age she was only a young adult and still very naive about the world. After paying more than she should’ve, Jei set off with the small ship, The Wisp. Immediately after setting off a devastating storm swept through, throwing the ship off course. Several weeks were spent lost and Jei at the mercies of the sailors. She was forced to do menial tasks, and her rations were cut to almost nonexistent measures. Jei acted and changed her personality to become meek and subservient so as to not be a target for entertainment. Much of the ship’s cargo was lost and caused tensions to run high.
When a ship was spotted on the horizon, the crew was ecstatic. They could ask for navigation help and spare rations. When the ship grew closer a large galleon was revealed and the captain of The Wisp started to grow nervous. The usually confident Wildclaw became anxious, and Jei who was scrubbing the deck caught on. Whatever that ship was, the captain didn’t consider them to be friendly. Jei took the opportunity to hide while the crew was distracted, hiding among the few crates and barrels still on deck.
The galleon was revealed to be a pirate ship when the dragons onboard attacked and viciously murdered everyone until a surrender was issued. Jei was dragged out with the rest of The Wisp’s crew, thrown in front of the pirate captain for inspection. Jei kept her head down and huddled, trying to become noticeable as not to become a slave. When the captain got to her, all she saw was his bloody talons. A tail lifted Jei’s head up so she stared directly into the face of the deadly Banescale, forcing her to meet his strange eyes. Jei felt an attraction to the dangerous dragon she saw in those eyes, scaring herself enough to tremble slightly. The Banescale smiled at this, ordering his crew to take her aboard his galleon. It would be on this galleon that Jei learned true freedom.
Jei’s position on the pirate galleon, the Huntress of the Ashes, was uncertain. While not a slave exactly, Jei wasn’t a free dragon either. She mainly worked in the gallery, but was called on by the captain occasionally. During these calls Shipwright (The captain) would question Jei on what the crew did since his last inquiry. She learned to pay attention while serving the crew, listening to the rumors and gossip they threw around, as well as their tales and complaints during the day. Eventually Jei became more confident and started making friends with the pirates themselves, gaining their trust slowly.
It became clear that Jei’s confidence and skills growing was what Shipwright had aimed for, as the pirates shared their own beginnings as similar to her own. The realization that Jei was wanted as part of the crew was a pleasing one, something she always remembered fondly. What Jei didn’t understand was the times Shipwright only asked Jei to meet him so he could ask about her life before the Huntress. Shipwright seemed to grow angry about tales of her childhood as Jei started to open up. He nagged her for details of her father, so much so that she shot back with questions of his own childhood. When he opened up easily Jei was surprised but happily listened. Their sharing of tales caused them to grow close, eventually to the point of becoming mates.
Jei became Shipwright’s mate, and the Huntress’s spymaster. She’d hangout in taverns and popular local spots to gather information on targets and relay it back to the crew. This information was used to raid ships, warehouses, and cargo areas for large amounts of treasure. Their life was enjoyable and almost easy, until they met their match. An equally infamous pirate ship, The Baron, attacked and sank their ship along the coast of the Gladeveins. The reason the mated pair claim their ship sunk in the first place was because The Baron used octoflyers with metal spikes attached to them as bombs basically to attack the lower areas of the ship. Jei and Shipwright were tossed into the open sea, where their injuries caused them to become castaways.
Jei and Shipwright came ashore on the border of Shadow and Light territories, hiding in the Goldwood forest while waiting to heal. It was there they were found by the Sanctuary of Diversity, being offered sanctuary for as long as they needed. They took up this offer reluctantly, recognizing they had no place to call home with the Huntress gone. The two settled comfortably into a life of retirement briefly while healing, growing discontent and seeking a way to earn a living. The Sanctuary gladly accepted Shipwright as the first captain for overseas trading for the Sanctuary. Meanwhile Jei was hesitantly given the position of a spy, and eventually Spymaster. Jei spent her time either on Shipwright’s ship or when needed gathering information to help the Sanctuary. She won over the support of the Veilspuns in the Sanctuary, recruiting them to spy on the enemy harpy clan or finding dragons attempting to ruin the Sanctuary.
Currently
Jei spends her days in taverns or with her mate Shipwright sailing. With the Sanctuary’s reputation of taking in everyone, it isn’t surprising that nefarious folk try to sneak their way in. It’s Jei’s job to prevent dragons like that from doing so, seeking information on their pasts and secrets to protect the Sanctuary. Even though Jei collects this information and seems untrustworthy, unless you threaten her family it will never be used against you.
Jei’s strongest interest is to protect those she calls family. Her mate, hatchlings, and the Veilspuns she considers family are her frontmost priority. The family of Misha and Hauraro, Jei considers them family as they have won her trust and love through their dedications to their own family and friends. Jei never forces her hatchlings to do something they don’t want to do but does teach them the basics of her and Shipwright’s skills.

FAMILIAR BACKGROUND/PERSONALITY

Jei familiar is a Dunewind Manticore she saved during a mission one year. Razyiv, as the young manticore would be named, was a exotic pet of a dragon who targeted the Sanctuary in hopes of extorting it for profit. Jei noticed and immediately rescued the manticore in the middle of the night, setting it free only to have it return as an eternally loyal companion. Now Razyiv serves as a way for Jei to take certain dragons... to somewhere quieter to talk.
Razyiv enjoys any chance he gets to find some prank to pull on Jei, or preferably Shipwright. Shipwright loathes the manticore for the various troubles he's gotten him into but loves Jei too much to murder it. Yet. One of these days thou...

SKILLS & HOBBIES

Jei's main skills are her ability to change her personality into anything she likes, and use a spear that most dragons are unable to maneuver with properly. In battle Jei will use her spear to keep herself out of range of others talons and allow Razyiv to swoop in with a quick sting.
Jei rarely puts aside time for hobbies, but enjoys cooking or sailing whenever she can. Her cooking is good enough that Shipwright actively finds time to have Jei make a meal for him while on shore leave.

I'm back, thanks for your patience everybody! I'm feeling much better now, so let's continue.

@wolfdragon3036
Got yours as pairs, also I'd love to buy a banecale hatch from that pair, if they're breeding.

Jei & Shipwright: A former pirate captain and his wife. Ever since their ship sank, due to an unfortunate accident with multiple octoflyers, these two have been landlocked. They are not yet used to their new lives and would love to one day own another boat. And get revenge on those blasted octoflyers while they're at it.

Akiruch & Deria: Although they look like toys, they're actually spirits of some sorts. One of them shows up in nice dreams, and one of them in nightmares. They guide the dreamer through their dream, hoping that they'll learn from their own subconcious.
