A wonderful young philosopher and a walking encyclopedia on the various schools of philosophic thought around Sornieth, Ajani can often come across as overly difficult and somewhat self-obsessed. He would define his life as an ongoing, impassioned search for answers, and he is simply unable to accept that some questions might not have any answers at all. Very open-minded, but perhaps not the friendliest dragon around, Ajani is known around Home as a knowledgeable dragon who is always more than happy to help with coursework or engage in a friendly debate, but also as a dragon who tends to keep to himself and who is somewhat difficult to get close to.
- Biography
Born in the Starfall Isles to a Dark Sclera Clan, Ajani was brought to Home while he was still a hatchling, and has lived in Light his entire life. Like many other young dragons at Home, he is an orphan of the many inter-Flight skirmishes that plague border areas of most Flights. Like most of Home's residents, he proudly considers himself a Light dragon, but those closest to him know that he certainly possesses the natural curiosity that characterizes most Arcane dragons. Never a very talented magician, which is unusual for Arcane dragons and doubly so for Dark Sclera dragons, Ajani threw himself wholeheartedly into his studies at a young age. Ever since he was a hatchling, he has been passionate about asking tough questions and trying to find the answers, fascinated by moral philosophy and ethical problems.
- Life at Home
An excellent student, Ajani has a sharp wit and a great talent for seeing patterns and connecting information, making him a simply phenomenal conversationalist and debater. He is excellent at seeing the big picture and adjusting his ideas quickly, rarely seeing the point in holding onto outdated ideas for the sake of it. He is well-known among Home's other philosophy students for being an outstanding debater and a great dragon to bounce ideas off of. Home's philosophy professors often ask him to help struggling students, as he's fantastic at talking them through thought problems and explaining ethical problems in many different ways. Ajani's professors are currently trying to convince him that he should look into becoming a professor himself when he graduates, a career option that Ajani himself is steadily growing more enthusiastic about.
- Relationships
A friendly dragon, Ajani gets along with pretty much everyone but is truly close with few dragons. He gets along well with most of his Hallmates in Niflheimr Hall, especially his best friend, Ljos, and the other philosophy students. Ajani is known for having a great deal of Hall pride, and can become uncharacteristically competitive on occasion. Not a dragon who is known for a need to be the best or a desire to win at everything he does, he has been known to become snippy with dragons from other Halls or moody when Niflheimr Hall loses a competition. Rather sensitive about lack of magical skill, he can often be terse or uncomfortable around Home's magicians, and indeed seems somewhat wary around other Arcane dragons in general. Regardless of these exceptions, Ajani is known around Home as a typically friendly and likeable sort of dragon who is always more than happy to take the time to chat with anyone.
- Personality
Ajani has a great deal of intellectual independence, creativity, and astounding mental agility. He loves nothing more than a good debate, and can be surprisingly rebellious - a dragon who is naturally inclined to go against the grain, many dragons speculate he would have been sorted into Helheim Hall were he not so much the archetypal Niflheimr Hall dragon. Unfailingly honest and stubborn to a fault, he refuses to back down from his beliefs and always insists that his opinion be counted, a persistence in speaking his mind that can easily make him come across as self-centered. Despite this, he is very open-minded and always willing to see things from other perspectives, which is one of the reasons he's such a fantastic debater. Despite his extraverted and friendly personality, Ajani internally often feels a great deal of doubt and worry, especially with how Sornieth has been changing in recent years, and it is often difficult to know where he fits into the grand scheme of things. This is truly the reason why he is so stubbornly obsessed with moral philosophy and ethics - he wishes very desperately that there was an answer to everything, and he's made it his life's mission to try and tease out those answers.
