Smoke

Smoke's gentle, smokey colours match her calm, intelligent demeanour perfectly and gave her her name. Never one for passion and excitement, she has a composed, rational approach to life that the rest of the clan find relaxing. Smoke handles any and all legal affairs that the Clan may be involved in, as well as managing the accounts. The saying 'Where there's smoke there's fire' holds true with her, as she is almost never seen without either her smoldering familiar or more occasionally her fiery friend, the traveller Cheeta. Despite being about as different as two dragons can be they have always been best of friends, and although they see each other even less now Cheeta has shifted his 'permenent' home to a nearby allied Clan, they maintain correspondence.

Although honoring the gods, faith plays a small part in her organized life - and as such many find it surprising why she would choose to take a dragon as devout as Squall as her mate! However, they respect each others' intellect and love to argue and debate - neither would ever find something as mundane as disagreement a good reason to not get along. Yet that doesn't mean this pairing was perfect. Squall spent many years filled with self-hatred and self-doubt, and his relationships with Smoke and his friends were not nearly supportive enough to help. This eventually led him to abandon his Clan duties, leading to a fierce argument with the Clan leaders and Nefertiti when they attempted to address it. This caused a rift between him and the Clan that even Rehalia couldn't fix. Having lost his faith, Squall took on a new name and left to find a new home in the South. Smoke was deeply wounded by what she secretly considered a personal betrayal and a failing in herself, but she found refuge in her logic and her work, in which she became more cutthroat than ever - incidentally leading the Clan to new prosperity. Recently she has struck up a friendship with the equally black-and-white Primrose, which has done wonders for her recovery.
