Recently Foretold Prophecy in Flesh Form Uh-oh, looks like this entity of neutral malice wandered a little too far from their home lair (452562, Hyzenthlaay), and now they’re off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt them, we'd really appreciate it if you instead could just send them off in the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread. If you don't want another traveler in return, they can be sent to their original home via the Crossroads, or this rest hub. You can also adopt them permanently if you don’t want them leaving your lair - just contact Hyzenthlaay and let her know (it’s good for her notes)! Many people have worked very hard on this traveling dragon, and exalting them would be an absolute shame. Please don’t do it! |
Gunth was born into the world at the hands of mages, working to make flesh of a book of prophecies their clan scouts had recently unearthed. Unable to decipher its archaic language, they instead went about a much simpler venture, which was to make the leather-bound book a living, breathing dragon. And thus, Gunt was brought forth - but not without a sacrifice. The ceremony for his arrival required a blood sacrifice, a rather typical addition to the creation of spirits, but unbeknownst to his benefactor, the entire contents of a dragon's lifeforce was required to sustain form as powerful as the "Skydancer" himself in Sornieth. Thus, Gunth's "mother" died bringing him into the world...and yet, she brought the mages no closer to their sought-after answers. He had little interest in making his knowledge accessible to his creators, quite annoyed to have been brought into their petty mortal schemes, and was quick to take leave of them -- though he assumes that sooner or later, they'll stupidly try coming after him. No matter. He's more than enough of a match for them... Originally written by @Hyzenthlaay, lore shop here. Find more lore dragons and writing commissions for purchase there! Gunth's Travel Log:
Volrin, The Purified Temple - Gunth's first stay was a refreshing one. He found a bustling, friendly clan on the outskirts of the Hewn City in the Lightweaver's domain that housed all manner of travellers, and they warmly welcomed him in like he was any other dragon. Did they know not of the great secrets he contained? Or did they simply not care? Either way, Gunth was just relieved to spend some time with dragons that pried not at his cryptic knowledge, who left him to exist and ponder in silent comfort.
It was funny, Gunth supposed. The Skydancer was much more loose-lipped with his ancient secrets when they weren't being demanded of him, or -- forbid it -- when other dragons weren't attempting to drag them out of him by force. If any of the residents of this clan had requested that Gunth share his knowledge of the prophecies with them, he just might have chosen to indulge them! But... since they did no such thing, Gunth supposed he would keep it to himself for a while longer.
This clan even allowed him to borrow from some of their apparel! The Skydancer set out to assembling an outfit inspired by the Arcane, to help him feel just as regal and educated as a mysterious, prophetic being like himself deserved.
His stay in the Temple was long-lived, and Gunth had grown rather fond of the atmosphere and these dragons, but he would have to get moving again if he wanted to keep at least a few steps ahead of his annoying creators. These good people didn't deserve to get caught in the crossfire of a magic shootout, should the wizards force his hand and cause Gunth to unlock his deepest potential.
First Destination
unidra, The Windstone Clan - What a different experience he had in the Windstone Clan. The moment he arrived, a school of mages took interest in him. How they nagged him with questions. How obnoxious they were with their spells. And if that was not enough, he was not the only abomination there. One dragon summoned a new one every day, and at least two haunted the school. No one seemed to pay any of them notice. Perhaps, he thought, they would stop noticing him once he was no longer novel to them.
But he did not want to stay long enough to find out, so he moved on.
