Biography
[Name is short for Anthozoa, the scientific class of corals].
Zoa has spent her entire life underwater. For some unknown reason, she was born with the ability to breath underwater through a set of uniquely adapted gills on her neck. For many years, she lived under the sea, never knowing that an entire world existed on land. Her world was the fish, sharks, crustaceans, rays, whales, and corals that called the ocean their home. Zoa learned to understand them, to speak their myriad languages.
When she finally met another dragon, Zoa was bewildered, yet thrilled. She had always wondered why there were no sea creatures that remotely resembled herself. Asphodelle, the clan's water flight ambassador, was the first dragon she met. He was fascinated by her, and offered to introduce her to other water-loving dragons in the clan. Zoa met Mercenaria, another Guardian like herself, and felt an instant connection with the female. The two became inseparable friends, bonded by their mutual love of the ocean, especially the creatures that inhabited it.
Due to her unique adaptation, Zoa would never be able to join her new clan on land, but no one involved saw this as a hinderance. She helped the clan huntresses by showing them the best fishing spots, and the clan greatly benefited from her extensive knowledge and ability to communicate with other aquatic life. For her part, Zoa was overjoyed to know that there she wasn't the only creature of her kind. Everything she had enjoyed about her previous life had stayed the same, but now she found a new source of happiness in the companionship of her new dragon friends.
