Styx spent most of his youth in the plaguelands, within the safety and protection of his clan. He was known as an inquisitive and bold creature, prone towards not so much mischief as misplaced curiosity that at times neared sadism due to the extent to which he seemed to disregard the feelings of his clan members.
Due to relatively poor physique and health, he didn’t often leave the clan grounds, and most often took to exploring only with the company of hunters or short-ranged scouts, and even then quite rarely. He left the clan eventually out of boredom, already a middle-aged wyrm.
He stayed for four years in the arcane territories, learning astronomy, languages, and arts, then proceeded onto light, where he remained for quite some time in order to take advantage of their vast library. His initially wide-ranged studies eventually came to specialize in history and architecture.
He joined several expeditions to investigate the Beastclans of multiple territories--often in the role of a consultant--that focused mostly on their cultures and architectural heritage.
The last expedition regarding the beastclans led him to be caught in a skirmish between several venomous species and the expedition’s fighters. During the altercation, he was exposed to an unidentified neurotoxin, resulting in permanent loss of vision.
After a brief period of recovery following sustaining the disability, he returned to the light territories where he proceeded in his studies with the help of a newly made acquaintance; an older Pearlcatcher named Hyperion.
After sufficient time that he had fully adjusted to his blindness, he received the letter of invitation from the then-fledgeling Bluespark clan. The architectural projects we were planning called for the expertise of someone knowledgeable about the plaguelands, and he had been selected through research and questioning of several reliable sources.
Within months of the letter having been sent out he had arrived; with the assistance of his friend and helper.

The abandonment of project C and homelair had temporarily cast him into severe depression. Likely it was due to the sense of responsibility he had for the architectural progress we had made. Despite the disappointment, he chose to accompany us on our migration, recovered quickly, and is currently in a state of good health according to Hyperion (our only source of information in that regard, as he has refused all checkup attempts on the part of our medical unit).

Currently he holds a position of high authority within the clan, and has proven himself invaluable as both an architect and strategist. His personality leaves much to be desired, however; It is difficult to engage in conversation with him for any significant length of time without losing one's composure.
Hyperion acts as a mediator between him and the clan, and regularly reads aloud to him in addition to other responsibilities as his self-appointed companion and guide.
