Biography

cherubim the spectre

Once a brightly soul,
Of vibrant, showy feathers,

Now a beast from tales of old,
And of simply frosty weather.

Children and a mate,
Resides in Ashfall Waste,

Status of the highest,
And target of the slyest.

Working trip comes about,
There I went, up and out.
Through lands of unmatched
tranquility,
And grassy plains of simple beauty.

So how'd I get down here?
A sky that gleams in a frigid winter,
Not a single passing deer,
And the casting pines just groan and splinter.

Shadows cast onto I, slumped figure,
Making silhouettes seem bigger,
Glazed bushes rattle and jerk,
Whatever has been following all of this time,
Still seems to hiss and lurk.

I would like to say I perished
To an unrelenting cold,
Or even a fallen tree,
If that story isn't old.

Can't put a talon on it,
It's just a feeling in my maggot-eaten breast,
Even though something malicious be about,
I doubt you'll want to hear the rest.

Cherubim was the definition of a loving mate and father. He and his mate worked hard as assistants to the clan ambassadors. His mate focused on inner clan affairs and organized all the gatherings of visiting ambassadors and clans while Cherubim worked outside the clan organizing when the clan's main ambassadors would visit other lands. Their children were growing up to be fine adults, on their way to being true ambassadors and chefs and dancers. Their futures were open, and Cherubim couldn't be prouder. His family was perfect, his life was perfect. That was, until he was given a job. He had to leave his clan in the land of Fire to travel to a Shadow clan. It would be an easy enough job. He just had to open up some relations so the true ambassador could visit. Cherubim was happy to accept the job. He left after a heartfelt good-bye to his family. Even though the trip would be long, he knew he would return to them soon enough. He couldn't wait to be reunited with them, to tell them about his adventures and maybe bring back a pine-cone for the kids.

Without much of a hassle, Cherubim had arrived in the soon-to-be-allied clan. They welcomed him with open arms. They didn't waste time preparing the details of the meeting that would take place. Cherubim worked quickly and diligently, his patience lasting him for the whole meeting. When it came to the coatl, no one was more patient or understanding. He knew just what to say and when to say it. He was able to listen for hours on end and express a gentle air while at the same time expressing a powerful one. Cherubim would have made a wonderful ambassador, and little did he know that he was going to get that well-deserved promotion along with his mate. Fate, however, played tricky games. She never let anyone be too happy for too long. She had tossed the dice and, sadly, Cherubim got snake eyes. On the way back home from the job, ready to deliver the documents to the ambassador, he was jumped and killed.

Before his passing, he caught a glimpse of his killer. He saw them leave into the woods with something of his... he didn't know what it was. Before he could even call for help, he was gone. Or, so he thought. His spirit lingered, filled with the remorse that he would never see his family again. It seemed as if he had been drained of every other emotion besides the feeling of loss. Pain. Loneliness. His mate wouldn't know what happened, he wasn't even sure if he would be found. The forest were so dark and still, nothing seemed to move. Yet here he was, watching his body slowly disappear back into the earth. Cherubim, lost and confused, began to wander. He found a nearby clan, apparently having died right on their borders. He looked at each and every dragon, and saw his killer. He didn't say anything, though. He was still a caring and understanding dragon on some level. Besides, what would getting mad do for him? The coven members that could see him asked him many questions. But Cherubim never gave them a full answer. He never called out the member of the coven that killed him. He never even bothered to ask them why. All the coatl wanted was to be back home, with his family. Or... at least... have his family know what happened and know that he still loved them and how much he missed them.
