Biography

B A Y T Y N
━━━━━━━━━━
Perhaps this is who I was always meant to be.

Gender: female
Age: young
Occupation: Former Heiress, Advisor to the Queen
Hometown: The Clan of the Forgotten Earth
Mate: Sahlir

As you wander through the council room, you notice the tiny chair. All of the other seats around the throne are large and imposing, places for creatures great and powerful to come together and discuss the challenges of the time. But this chair is so small that it seems like nothing could be small enough to sit in it. As you observe the seat, you catch sight of the flickering of shimmering wings. But whoever was close by, watching and listening, is no longer there. You are alone. Or are you?

None hold the position of Baytyn. Firstborn of her parents, the Matriarch and Prince Consort of the clan, unique in her coloration across Sornieth, Baytyn was the perfect daughter. She knew her place better than anyone: Heiress, the next in line for the throne, the Forgotten Earth's Chosen Daughter. She alone could fill the enormous space her mother would one day leave. She heard the whispers of nepotism in the halls. She knew she would have to work hard to prove herself and her position. And to everyone, she seemed to be doing just that.

Until one day, when she disappeared.

A scout returned, out of breath, desperately calling for aid, that the princess had disappeared during a hunt near the shadowy edge of the forests. Immediately search parties were sent out, all available dragons rushing to find their beloved princess. But she could not be found. Something at the edge of the forest, unknowable to all, pushed them back, turned them away. Whispers. Hisses. Murmurs. And they returned heartbroken to the palace.

Baytyn was mourned for many years, during which Yrvylth provided another heir, Aima, who began to train in her place. And slowly, the clan moved on.

Years later, an unexpected visitor appeared at the palace, quietly demanding entry to her home. She was brought before many layers of scrutiny, but to everyone's shock, it became apparent that this creature was the missing princess herself. She had been transformed into something new, something unknown, but she truly was their lost princess. There was something different about her now, something quiet and observant, and she told her tale over time. She had been kidnapped, it seemed, by some force that she could not describe, and transformed into a shadowy species of dragon not yet known to them. It was not a joyous experience, but one of pain and torture. It was only now that she had been released, though she was not sure why. But she only knew she had to come home.

Yrvylth welcomed her daughter publicly with open wings, but privately held her doubts. She had not seen her daughter in many years, and seeing her daughter so broken was heartbreaking. She vowed to either find a cure for Baytyn, or at least find a way to welcome her back to her clan and care for her however she needed it.

Baytyn accepted a position on the Council, though knew that her days as the heiress were long behind her. She is slowly coming to terms with the fact that she is no longer like the others, even those who she grew up with. And as the Veilspuns returned to Sornieth, Baytyn has found comfort in knowing that she is not alone and there are others like her, though she still faces many naysayers, and many who are afraid of her. She works now as an advisor to her mother, and finds creative solutions to problems that larger dragons cannot solve. Though sometimes, she feels the darkness of the woods calling to her, and wonders if perhaps she is meant to be there more than she is to be here...
