Kirbie
Alluring and deadly

"a friend is hoping to hear from you today"

uhh summary version kirbie is an absolutely rotten dragon- vain spoiled petty manipulative etc- and no one knows why belladonna hasnt banished or demoted her yet

Quote:
notes 3/26/23

- Kirbie joined the Clan early on- canonically before Iracema and Fleet, even before Gildie and Wraith. After Chance, the first two were Jasper and Medusa (since the three were gifts from the same person, could they have met beforehand and have joined then?)- Kirbie would probably be the third.

- My first thought seeing her was 'thats the prettiest dragon ive ever seen omg those COLORS' and I think lorewise she tends to have that effect on other dragons- she definitely cares a lot about her appearance. Jewelry, fine robes, things like that- she doesn't have much by way of an inheritance, but she's very good at talking her way into and out of any situation; I think that would help in that regard.

- One of the key things in the Council's dynamics is the dynamic between Belladonna and Kirbie. It's like a vicious cycle- she talks and Belladonna is overfocused on the effects of her words, leaving the Clan unsettled and all the more eager to hear what Kirbie has to say. I don't know why she hasn't been kicked out, though.. again with her verbal skills- maybe a lot of the insults are backhanded or only in context? Maybe it's all about tone rather than word choice? She definitely hides her anger and venom well- most probably know her to be haughty and glamorous but that's about it. With certain dragons, though- Hecate, Morrow, and the like- it's constant barbs and manipulation and, of course, endless posturing. Endless posturing with everyone. And manipulation woo idk how to write it but it's there!

- This shows in her personal relationships as well- I think it would make sense if Fleet considered Kirbie a friend but had no idea Kirbie looked down upon her, at least in the beginning, and of course we had the manipulation with Somnium and the child neglect and whatnot with Hecate and proobably with her other kids? I mean they're all suspiciously gone, so. Verdigris' face rn-

- Why does she hate Morrow? I love the fact that she does, it's so fun to put the two meanest dragons in the Clan at each others' throats because the insults, OH I SHOULD ADD AETHER TO THE MIX! but idk why. Rebellion..? oh god I really need to figure that out. Why was Jasper in it? Kirbie probably! She's good at turning people against each other. OH maybe that's why Belladonna trusts her so much? She was there early on, she's good with words, she was able to pick at everyone's weaknesses.. it's like Wormtongue, but with more flair.

Kirbie knew she was beautiful. She took pride in it, showed off without making it seem like she was flaunting herself. Her beauty, of course, was a weapon- one of her many, along with her quicksilver tongue and sharp teeth. Perhaps that wasn't always the case, but she learned that it allowed her to get what she wanted, who she wanted, without much difficulty. She applied her tried-and-true methods to each dragon she came across, each dragon that could further her station without knowing.

Medusa was almost too easy to string along. Making delicately pointed conversation with him about how much better his business would do if he had a model gave her a wealth of beautiful clothes and all the latest gossip that he overheard from his customers. Jasper was unsure of himself, constantly second-guessing what he wanted and what 'side' he was on- she stepped in to advise him on what to do, how to act, and he became a valuable asset to Belladonna and, by extension, to her.

That much time gardening left Fleet rather gossipy, and amongst all the boring plant stories were useful bits of information- Jasper came by the other day to chat, did Kirbie think it was a good idea to keep talking to him? It was just a friendship, of course, because she had her eye on Iracema. But she hadn't acted upon it, hadn't wanted to impose! Oh, because she'd saved his life and assassins had weird concepts of loyalty, you know? But he was so handsome, and had Kirbie seen him all aglow after a successful hunt?

Now that was interesting. Kirbie kept an eye on their relationship as it developed- as expected, Fleet had drastically, entertainingly overestimated the attachment Iracema felt to her. Still, he later saved her life from a ley-tainted bearbeast, and Fleet put herself out there and they were boring just long enough for her to hatch two dragonets. Iracema's attention was already drifting by the time they were injured. Though he later renewed an interest in his firstborn, he made no effort to salvage his relationship with Fleet and treated the younger one with utter disinterest.

@caelafireheart

Kirbie looks beautifully deadly. It's the first time I've seen her accent used, and the way she pulls it off looks breath-taking!

I feel like they'd compliment each other nicely, I hope I didn't get Kirbie's character too off ^^;

Ambrosia was already quite the talk of the Starfall Isles after her fairly recent art show debut. The paintings and sculptures were beautiful, sure; delicately detailed pottery the size of a guardian from a dragon a fraction of the size is a sight to behold - but it was the last thing of a dragon's mind. It shouldn't be all that surprising to learn that prime discussions and interest rose only when it came to light that Ambrosia was a single-headed Aberration.

The Aberration's work alone would be pretty expensive if it were done by any other talon, however due to her "condition" these prices were often inflated in auctions. That's the reason Kirbie set out to meet this new rising artist - in hopes of charming her way to a free piece.

The strangers home was just as much of a work of art as her creations, but there was just one thing that pricked at Kirbie; the heads. There was simply too many. Why were there so many? They were all replicas of Ambrosia herself, self-portraits maybe? All held their own emotion as well: Disgust, anger, sadness, happiness, embarrassment - they lined the walls all throughout the warmly-lit home. The pretty pearlcatcher's snout was scrunched up in distaste, even now where she sat there were displays of heads just.. staring at her.

Ambrosia was either blind or simply didn't care enough to notice Kirbie's discomfort, as she continued her work on a piece (that was thankfully not a head) before her. The craftswomen didn't bother to indicate conversation, and it rubbed her the wrong way. Talk about disrespectful.

"You have such a lovely home," the pearlcatcher mused, her voice smooth and light - a stark contrast to her dark demeanor. "Very decorative, if I say so myself."

Ambrosia, to Kirbie's annoyance, took a few minutes before responding in a matter-of-fact tone; "Really? You sure have odd taste. Normal dragons feel repulsed."

Kirbie's eye twitched. "..I can see you've practiced for a very, very long time.. Why is it only now that you've started selling them?"

"It was only a hobby, but once I couldn't store them all they were sent to the auction house. I found out they pay good money." The Aberration muttered just loud enough for her to hear, skillfully defining the details of a fin with a scalpel.

Good money indeed. "It's truly a work of art. Your expertise could never go unnoticed - my, even the artist herself is a work of art~"

This seemed to get Ambrosia's attention, a subtle smirk lining her dark, slender face. "Is that so? You're quite bold. Now, what was the reason of your visit again?"

Kirbie lets out an elegant giggle. "Am I not allowed to witness an artist at work? I'm shocked you don't have more visitors!" You know.. apart for all the heads..

"That's a rather intrusive reason, if that's the case."

"Oh alright.. You got me there - though it was a definite bonus." Kirbie lifted her hands in 'defeat', a well-practiced pout on her lips. "I came to ask for a commission, if you take any. My mother is currently bed-ridden and she truly loves collecting works of art.."

"And have you brought treasure?"

"I was hoping I could pay later.."

"I see." Ambrosia exhaled softly through her snout, finally casting her gaze over Kirbie. She had to admit, the pearlcatcher was a beauty. Her rounded jaw, sharp yet delicate eyes and beautifully silked mane would have any dragons on their knees. However, she also knew what she was trying to pull - after all, she lived under the Amethyst Kingdom.

The Aberration had an idea.

"I'll make you something. Free of charge." Kirbie's ears perked. "But under one condition.." They immediately sank.

"..And that condition would be?"

"Model for me."

old bad version of the lore here:
Kirbie knew she was beautiful.

Her beauty, of course, was only a weapon- one of her many, along with her quicksilver tongue and sharp teeth- that allowed her to get what she wanted, get who she wanted, without much difficulty.

Expensive, personally tailored clothing and jewelry? Just ask Medusa.

That sweet, easygoing Spiral? It was almost too easy (shame, though, that her daughter was such a disappointment).

A spot on Belladonna's council? It took twenty minutes of pointed conversation to get Iracema to vouch for her.

Although the rest of the matriarch's advisors were cautious around her at first (there were only five of them back then- Chance, the strange engineer that had been with Revenant since day one; Fleet, a gardener and healer obsessed with shiny things; Iracema, an ex-assassin that owed Fleet his life; Medusa, a
