"Aviation spotted him first, watching the tail of the comet with her golden telescope. She’d thought he was a meteor, or some kind of magical spark - a bolt of light streaking across the sky in brilliant rose gold and copper. But she felt the ridges on her spine raise on edge as it got closer, as it passed overhead with a shrieking whine. It was like being approached by an Emperor - bone-shaking terror and awe all at the same time - and then as fast as she saw him, he was gone, and there was a thunderous roar from way beyond in the Pines.”

Neowise arrived at the clan in a ball of light and fire during the peak visibility of a long-awaited comet, crashing to earth at the edge of the pine-stand forest. He claims he’s from the realm of the stars like Toboe, born of a piece of the comet coming to life under the right magical conditions and sent down to the clan in order to act as a warrior and protector against a coming danger. Though what danger exactly, no one knows, or if they do they simply won’t say.

Despite having crash-landed in a strange unknown world, Neowise quickly became devoted to the clan. The golden scars criss-crossing are evidence that he’s a powerful and experienced warrior, no matter where he really came from, and he’s proven that fact time and time again while defending the clan from threats and invaders. He is blunt and literal, often misunderstanding what others say, and preferring to stick to the edges of the clan to avoid the strange and uncomfortable feelings he gets around other dragons. Nashel often sees him on the outskirts of her fields, watching from a distance, and wonders if he feels the same way as she does.
