"The sky shifts again, the clouds gathering and swirling into the shape of a massive grinning beast. Toboe is uncharacteristically silent. The stars on his scales seemed to twinkle uneasily, points of shining light against the nearly-dark sky. And then, slowly, the wings draped and clasped around his shoulders begin to unfurl, each feather shimmering with crackling energy. This was his destiny, after all, was it not?”

Toboe claims to be made of pure starstuff and gold, forged in the heart of an ancient star and sent adrift in the cosmos before being called to Sornieth as a celestial guide and protector for the lost souls there. While most don’t believe his stories, there’s no denying the pale wings and cracks of molten gold that line his body, or the immeasurable magical powers he wields with seemingly no effort. He may not be a god, but some of his powers are certainly akin to one, much to the chagrin of the priests and priestesses of the clan who try to bring worshippers to their own temples instead of to the bragging self-proclaimed ‘idol of the stars’.

Toboe doesn’t trouble himself with the quibbles of lowly mortal folk, though. He prefers to survey his kingdom from above, offering a guiding hand and word when needed and simply allowing those loyal to follow him to shower him in gifts and goods. But recently the cracks in his wings have been growing stronger, the gold pooling under his scales starting to heat and burn. It got worse when Nashel arrived, speaking of a great threat and a terrifying danger, and Toboe can only assume this ‘threat’ is the destiny that caused him to fall to Sornieth in the first place.
