The protector and leader of the clan. Everyone here admires her; somewhat. Whether it is respect or fear of her in the clan, she can never tell.
"Some secrets aren't meant to be unraveled." -Croton

"Don't get me wrong, Ms. Asrelius is a great leader! It's just that, sometimes she randomly goes missing and we don't hear from her at all! She always comes back unscathed, but she'd never tell us where she went or anything like that. Not even Mr. Magus knows!" -Eirene

"Our leader can seem overly... mysterious, but hey, that's just how she is." -Xulei

"A Leo... supposedly lively, passionate, and a natural leader. Ms. Asrelius is certainly a great leader, though she's everything but lively." -Vitreou

"The big boss lady? I'm real curious about her, to be honest. She's the only one I haven't managed to crack after a few moons... I wonder what she's hiding." -Lucifer

I feel a bit bad picking the very first dragon in your lair for some reason but she is beautiful and has one of my favourite colour combos. Her apparel fits her very well and her bio looks great too

Ezna: lore summary

Ezna acts as primary leader of the clan, assisted by Croton, the secondary leader. She was born on this land and traveled aimlessly for an age; that is, before she met Croton. Shortly after, the two became inseparable and continued travelling together. One night, Ezna went out alone while Croton was sleeping. She had intended to look for food. In the forest, something unknown attacked her, and drained her powers, replacing them with its life force. Once Croton awoke from the noise, he found her lying in a forest clearing, surrounded by a moving, writhing shadow that concealed her form. He wasn't sure what to do. Using his magic, he "healed" her as best he could, but he couldn't drive away the shadows, and when she woke, Ezna wasn't quite the same. Voices clouded her mind and a foreign sensation was lodged in her gut. Whatever attacked her, it had somehow become a part of her. This is the burden she must carry.

Since then, Ezna was no longer able to travel alongside her friend. Instead, the two found a place to settle in the land of light, and created a clan of their own, starting with a small group of dragons that Croton recruited. With the help of Croton and the rest of her new family, she eventually adapted to this new, stationary way of living. But the being still lives within her, and there's only so much she can do to keep it reigned in.

When any of the newer or younger clanmates asked Croton, "where is Ezna?" "where is the leader?" he would always lie. Make an excuse, say she was out to take care of a few loose strings. He'd gotten used to this, but it still stung every time. He too did not know where she was, where his old friend might have gone this time around. But she had her own battles, and all he could do was give her space. She can take care of herself, anyway.

Journal Entry: Ezna Asrelius, "The Grim Reaper" (by Vitreou)

Ms. Asrelius; though it’s debatable whether she can be considered a good example of a leader (I mean no offense), everyone certainly considers her as the figure in charge and treats her as such. Ms. Asrelius is constantly ‘away’. She rarely stays in the clan grounds with the rest of us. With that, she seldom interacts with us, her clan, either. If anyone else has noticed this, they have yet to utter a word about it.

Despite being born in the land of the light and wielding said element, Ms. Asrelius tends to lean towards the shadows. She owns and manipulates these strange… dark, shifting appendages that seem to be stemming from her foreclaws. I have only faced a handful of battles with Ms. Asrelius, but I know very well that her sheer power, along with those shadows, can cause great destruction in her wake. I can only hope that she won’t do more harm than what’s necessary.

About the Shadowstrike... (an input by Croton)

I dunno how exactly she got those, but here's what I do know: she wandered to the boundaries of the tangled wood one day, and someone, or maybe, something, dragged her into the trees. I spent every day lookin' for her after that incident. Anyhow, when I finally did find her, she had these things attached to her claws. I questioned her, obviously, but she didn't gimme a straight answer. She said somethin' along the lines of, "They're with me. They protect me, now. So don't worry." I wonder, what exactly happened in there? Nowadays, she visits the woods like they're her second home.

The Clan's First Anniversary (a celebration)

She set her claws on the cracked marble floors of the sunbeam ruins. It was a quiet and rather bright night, the moon casting a faint glow on the crumbling columns and the ancient sundial. It felt nice to be back, though she can't help but feel a lingering unease. Perhaps it was the near-oppressive silence. Casting her gaze left and right, the Guardian let her claws take the lead as her mind drifted elsewhere. She tried to recall the last time she saw these ruins, the place she so dearly called home. Now she hardly felt welcome. Will her clan even recognize her?

Hardly halfway there, a light clink caught her attention; the dragon looked in the direction of the sound, finding nothing. Perhaps it was just falling debris. She huffed and turned to hurry back to her own territory. After all, she could be on a different clan's grounds, and she didn't want to intrude. After just a few steps, though, she felt a tap on her shoulder. Startled, she whirled around, and her breath caught in her throat.

The dragon who poked her was a fellow Guardian with a dark green hide and intricate, light swirls along his body. Like any other of his kind, he also possessed a well-kempt beard. He looked rather sheepish.
"Ah, sorry for startling you," he rumbled. His voice was strangely familiar.
"No, it's alright. Really," she tried brushing it off, but he did give her quite the fright.
He pushed up his round glasses. "Anyway, Ez, I didn't know you were coming back tonight! C'mon, you're just in time, the-"
"Wait just a moment," she interrupted, taking a few steps back. "Do I know you? How do you know my name?"
"Ah," he opened his mouth to say something but closed it again without a word. It opened and closed again. Then, he finally composed himself. "Sorry, I just realized. You... really can't recognize me, huh?"
"No, I'm afraid not, good sir," Ezna sighed. "Though you do seem rather familiar for reasons I cannot name, I don't believe we've ever met."
The large Guardian chuckled. "It's me, Croton! Your best buddy!"

Ezna just stared at him, dumbfounded. The Croton she knew, the dragon he claimed to be, was nothing like him. He was a coral-pink tundra, wearing a dark vest and enchanted rings on his talons. This... stranger, whoever he really was, must be out of his mind. Perhaps there's been a misunderstanding?
"I see you're real confused," 'Croton' stated. "Let me explain- Hey, wait! Where d'you think
you're going?"
"I'm sorry, but perhaps you've mistaken me for someone else. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a clan to return to." Ezna concluded. She turned and started making her way to her clan's grounds.
"Hey, wait," the Guardian seemed to be snickering between his words. She thought she heard a wind chime accompanying his laughter. "Just listen to me for a 'sec, m'kay?"
Irritated, the clan leader turned to face the stranger, her shadows poised to strike. The other dragon was much bigger than her, but she paid that little mind. "If it will stop you from trailing my tail like a creeping shadow, then so be it."

He beckoned her to follow, and they soon arrived at an edge to the ruins, with a view overlooking the sea. The green Guardian invited her to sit with him and "relax and enjoy the view". Her legs were starting to feel sore from her journey from the woods, and the soft breeze seemed to invite her to lower her guard and trust this stranger. She heard the soft clinking again before she finally noticed it; a small glass ornament hanging from the other Guardian's wings. It was attached to sturdy green strings, accompanied by small gold rings on both sides. Wisps of wind billowed around the ornament, making it clink every now and then.

When she finally came to lay beside the stranger, 'Croton', he cleared his throat.
"So," he started, not sparing her a glance. "I guess explanations are in order."
Ezna admired the view. It was quite the sight. "Indeed they are."
"Where should I even start? First of all, since you're so reluctant to believe me, here."
The stranger held out a small black notebook. The dragon shifted her weight to take it from his claws. She recognized it as Croton's spellbook; it's where he always wrote down his, well, magical spells and formulas. It was in his possession at all times, and seeing it now, without its owner, raised her alarm.
"How did you get this?" she kept her voice steady.
"Well, how else? I just took it with me from my room, is all." He gave her a look, and something in his eyes made her realize.
"You really are Croton," she whispered, perhaps in awe, or in surprise.
"Took you long enough to realize. Have I really changed that much?" he let out a chuckle, and the windchimes laughed with him once again.
"You've changed beyond recognition. Can you really blame me?" she shoved him playfully.
"Oof. Heh, I suppose you're right. I've planned it for a while, y'know. But I didn't have the courage to go through with it. Until recently, that is."
"You wanted to... change? Your colors, too... Why?"

Croton settled more comfortably on the marble floor and began to explain. He told her how he sometimes felt too frail and small and wished to be a bit stronger. How the sun shone so brightly in the ruins and it got too warm, even in his summer coat. How he found something... someone, that led him to wonder that, if he were a Guardian, he'd choose them as his Charge. How, eventually, he made the final decision to change how he looked, how he lived, how he acted.
"It's been a few months now, and I think it's safe to say that I'm really quite happy with this decision I've made," Croton concluded, finally looking Ezna in the eyes. "I just hope it isn't much trouble for you, boss."
"Oh, do not call me that, you sound like the Imps," she shook her head, and the former Tundra just laughed.
"I take it that you're alright with everything that's changed?"
"If it makes you happy, then I don't mind."
Her old friend nodded, a serene smile on his face. They sat in comfortable silence for a while.
Ezna broke the silence. "So, who did you choose as your Charge?"
"I haven't officially chosen yet, but as I said, I've had someone in mind. They're... a good friend of mine, from the Windswept Plateau. In fact, he's the one who gave me this wind chime. You should probably meet him soon. He's... off on vacation right now, though."
The other Guardian hummed. "A friend, huh? I thought that you'd choose your daughter, Ash. She's still with us, no?"
Croton sighed fondly. "Yeah, I had her in mind at first, but I figured that she'd want to be more... independent. Plus, I don't really know how she feels about me right now."
"I see."
They once again fell into silence, but it didn't last much longer as Croton suddenly shot up from the floor.
"Oh, and as I was saying, you're just in time for the feast we've prepared!"
"Feast? What feast?" The leader looked perplexed, following suit and rising from her seat.
"Don't you remember? Exactly one year ago today, the thirty-first day of the seventh month, I first met you, and together we created our clan!"
"It's our clan's anniversary? I... I've forgotten, it seems."
"Well, now you know! Don't forget it again, capiche?"
The smaller just snorted and complied, "capiche."
"Then, I'll race you to the lair! Last one there's a lazy boss!"
"Hey, no head starts!"

And just like the old times, the two dragons ran alongside each other within the ruins, their laughter echoing in the wind. She hadn't felt this happy in a long, long time.
