“My Love….it’s time to wake up, my love…”

I heard her sweet melancholy voice awaken me from my slumber. Although the ice around us had settled into my bones, it was hard to remain asleep when I hear her calling for me. Wishing for my body to stir and my heart to be reclaimed by her. I had no choice. Her love was etched into the depths of my very soul, and it made me helpless against her commands. “Yes, my dear?”

I didn’t like the way “Caim” looks, so I spelled it how it’s pronounced - not how it’s spelled. Caim is a Gaelic word for sanctuary. It’s also a symbol - an sacred (invisible) circle of protection drawn around the body to remind one of being safe and loved, even in the darkest of times. It was made to protect the bride and groom at the altar during a time of marriage. You can read more about it here.

Kyem has the ability “Blessing of the Forest” - to which he can bless the plants around him to grow, even on barren lands like the dessert, or on frozen fields of ice. He’s made entire forests pop up over night, but it’s no use if they can’t survive after he’s gone. So he changes the contents/genetics of the seeds themselves - leaving the forest a fighting chance when he leaves the area. He’s also quite the seasoned warrior, though he chooses to remain a gentle giant. Kyem has long since wished to use his strength, and strange powers, for peace. Many dragons used to see him as a pushover, but ever since meeting his mate he now knows it’s not wrong to use your strength to protect what/who you love.

Kyem’s role in the clan is simply to support his wife - the clan leader. Despite his large size, he can blend in with the shadows and remain hidden to even the sharpest senses. He also goes out hunting, and brings back food if the reserves are running low. Even as a peace-making beast, he knows everything must have a balance - especially in the forest. He can summon shadows that will bring him information, dragons, items - whatever he needs. Kyem’s abilities and roles are various, and there’s no telling what tricks he has up his sleeve.

Kyem is a quiet fellow, unless it comes to his wife. He loves sitting with her, speaking here and there, but mostly just remaining in her presence. Just seeing her work fills his heart with pride. He can’t help but think he’s the luckiest dragon in the world with a wife like his.
