Snaps of maws and rattling snarls sounded from the corner of camp long enough to draw curious eyes of passing dragons. Patrols returning from checking territories, to others merely sunbathing in the scarce sunlight shown through the forests overhead. No-one went to stop the two mirrors trying to shove an egg into their gobs, seeing as this was a daily occurrence between Graves and Wisteria.
Afterall, it was only a matter of time until Sula showed up to rescue the poor thing, anyway.
That was, if not for the hatchling within the egg choosing right than to start pipping. The shell sliced and the tiny mirror meeting that of her fathers for the first time. It was comical how both Graves and Wisteria skittered towards the largest dragon to hide behind as a tongue was flicked out from the egg they were previously attempting to devour.
The following sight of the tiny hatchling tipping out from the egg in a gross pile of goop caused the imperial the mirror’s hid behind to scrunch his nose and leave. Nearly tripping over the pair in the process, who both shared a look before chittering themselves.
Communicating by screaming, Graves and Wisteria went back and forth on what to do now that their lunch turned to soup.
Never really coming to a decision, both mirrors skittered and snapped at each other while the tiny hatchling had waddled over taken by the noise.
Flopping herself between the pair, the young mirror sat tall with gurgled noises of mimic as she tried to copy the back and forth. Her attention was grown short, and a huff left the hatchling. Doubled gaze sneering at the two as they were so caught up in their debate of whether to eat her that they weren’t even looking at her!
Deciding she would demand their attention, she gave a munch to Wisteries toes — only biting harder at the startled yelp that followed.
To say that was the last straw, Wisteria had lifted his leg to glare at the turquoise scaled child all before opening his gob—
A frightening snarl caused both mirrors to jump, fanged maws hissing at the guardian tumbling over.
Stances were made.
Mirrors encircling the larger dragon, and the guardian merely stood over the oblivious hatchling with another snarl.
