Headcanons
  • born to a smithing family. They were determined that she would carry on the family business.
  • the burden upon her was a lot heavier because of her extra eyes. They thought that "Multi-Gaze = great power!"
  • Solastra was pushed to learn blacksmithing techniques and related magic, even if a) she didn't like it and b) she was really quite mediocre at it.
  • She discovered she was interested in performing arts instead. Inspired by dancers she saw in other clans.
  • Family wasn't understanding, and in her childhood, she was under a lot of pressure and stress.
  • eventually ran away from home to chase her dreams
  • answered one of Melqart's "Performers Wanted" ads
  • Surprise! -- having had no training in performing arts, she turns out to be terrible at it
  • turns out she also has bad stage fright, whoops!
  • glumly finds work with Aloysius and Faust instead, using the training she did receive from her birth clan to help them in their workshops
  • is still mediocre at it because she still hates blacksmithing
  • Aloysius is sympathetic and encourages her to practice dancing in private and/or take lessons
  • Sol finds that she is more comfortable dancing on her own. On her days off, she takes to dancing in the woods, away from prying eyes
  • which is where she meets Sorel, who is enchanted (figuratively) by her dancing
  • she is all for him Sweeping Her Off Her Feet and Taking Her Away, except--
  • --he is a fairy prince, and no, his parents' court is not somewhere she can or will Live Happily Ever After
  • Solastra rescues him from imprisonment because fairies fear iron, and if anyone knows iron, it's a blacksmith
  • They are not living Happily Ever After yet, but don't worry, they're getting there!
  • Sol continues to practice dancing. She is now skillful and confident enough to perform at Melqart's restaurant
  • still has stage fright from time to time, but has learned several techniques to help her calm down and get through performances
