Biography
|
The moon hid her face in shame when he was born. Or so he was told. Moridin himself did not remember his birth. Everything was shrouded in darkness, and a painful craving for … something. He soon learned that he was different from the other Witchborne, cursed like his father had been. The sun hurt his eyes and burned his skin easily. Sometimes even the light of the full moon seemed too bright for him. From an early childhood on he preferred the darkness. Many feared for his sanity and his soul when he vanished into the woods, disappearing for days like a feral animal that couldn’t be fully tamed. They feared his dark side would take control over him, and he would become a soulless beast like the ones the Witchborne were sworn to hunt. Moridin’s violent temper did not ease their fears. Dragons that crossed him payed a bloody price for their slights. Something dark had touched him, left a stain on his soul and it was more than just the cursed bloodline of his parents. Even Moridin himself felt it, the darkness deep within. The constant craving for blood made him sick. But that was not the worst. Often, he found it incredibly hard to control his temper, his dreams were full of violent and abhorrent fantasies. Sometimes they were so vivid he wasn’t sure he hadn’t done what he had dreamed of which was rather disquieting. His siblings accused him of being distant and uncompassionate. And Moridin himself often asked himself if his lack of interest and compassion in his fellow dragons was unusual or rather a result of their attitude towards him. But if he could hate with such fervour, why couldn’t he love with equal passion? Maybe there was something wrong with him. Or maybe some dragons had to fight harder to stay on the right path and not descend into darkness. However, his intimate knowledge of the darker urges made him an outstanding hunter of evil creatures. He had a deeper understanding of them like most other dragons who only walked in the light. If he had to teeter at the abyss, he could at least put his talents to some use. And if he ever fell into the lurking darkness, his fellow Witchborne brethren would make sure he met a timely end. Although he sincerely hoped he’d have the presence of mind to recognize his failing and the courage to take matters into his own hands before it was too late. |
Obscurus Witchborne are often avoided as they are known to be easily manipulated by the Shade, hence the heavy care and scrutiny taken in rearing these Witchbornes, if ever there are. Dragons born under this element are gifted in the following: Umbrakinesis, Darkness Mimicry, Shadow Animation, Shadow Camouflage, Light Absorption, Umbraportation
The offspring between a vampire and a mortal, these variations are completely random with their urges and powers, ranging from a fully fledged vampire, to only a hint of the urge to feed on blood.
