Elizabeth… again and again, the name leaves her dry and sore throat. A mantra, a spell almost to prevent her from forgetting who she once was. She used to be a duchess, royalty. A leader, more feared than beloved, but respected nonetheless.

From birth on, Elizabeth was destined to rule. Born into a branch of the royal family, she received the best education money could buy. She called a sharp mind and wits her own, as well as pride and confidence. Elizabeth never had to back down even once in her life, walking her path with her chin raised and her head held high.

This did not change when she was eventually married to the duke of Dead Castle. Her freshly baked husband often left the castle in her capable hands, and Elizabeth reigned it as though she was its only master. When her husband returned home, Elizabeth put on the mask of a tame and obedient wife, but the entire entourage knew whose commands to follow. Elizabeth was known for her demand of absolute loyalty and the cruel punishments one had to endure if one did not obey.

The very same harshness that Elizabeth showed her servants she also targeted at the only child of the marriage: Katalin. Her daughter shared Elizabeth’s wits and sharp mind, and the similarities between mother and daughter were undeniable.

Only a few years after the wedding, Elizabeth’s husband fell ill and eventually died within the thick walls of Dead Castle. Until the present day, no one knows what sickness had befallen him and how Lorraine was unable to save him. The doctor herself does not answer any questions related to this incident. From that day on, Elizabeth was the only master of the castle and its territories, and led them with a strict and commanding hand. But after a few years of reigning, the duchess realized that no matter how much treasure she hoarded and how much land her soldiers conquered, her life was limited. Upon this realization, she turned towards the witch Azula, who presented her with an opportunity. Elizabeth turned into a vampire, and began to drink the blood of young women to remain eternally youthful.

Shortly after, Elizabeth married again, although it was clear to all that know her that love was not the driving force behind the marriage. No, Elizabeth sought to extend her territories even further. Her freshly-wed duke died the next winter on a hunting trip. However, Elizabeth enjoyed the company of Andras, the adolescent son he had brought into the marriage. Andras was allowed to stay and remained safe from the fate that had befallen his father.

All this is long in the past. Now, Elizabeth fades away in the dungeons deep deep beneath the castle. When she tried to feast on Katalin, her own daughter overthrew her, locking her away so Elizabeth would spend her eternal life in darkness and dirt. Only Gregory visits her from time to time as the warden of the dungeon… and sometimes Andras, her step-son, who she shares a deep bond with.
