Lorraine was born in a large city within the Duchess’ territory. The only child in a middle class family, she was expected to take over her parent’s small pharmacy in the city center when her parents would retire. Her father taught her how to collect herbs and what to look out for when doing so, while her mother instructed her in the secrets of the apothecary's trade. Lorraine enjoyed her education greatly, and soon was able to help out her parents in the pharmacy. She learned all about salves and remedies that she could, and started developing her own under her mother’s guidance. Soon, people all around the city knew her, and treated her with respect and kindness. If it had been up to Lorraine, she never would’ve left.

But destiny had different plans for her. Lorraine had grown into a fine woman and her parents already planned for their retirement when the plague hit the city. Within only days, hundreds got infected and died, Lorraine’s mother among them. Lorraine herself and her father immediately got to work, developing remedy after remedy, trying their best to care for the sick. When before, Lorraine had been able to cure most illnesses with one of her medicines, she now was at a loss. More often than not, all she could do was to ease people’s pain while they were withering away, instead of healing them. It broke her heart countless times. Soon, the city turned into a ghost city, where the rich and poor alike died like flies. Not even doctors and healers were safe. When Lorraine’s father became sick as well, she invested every waking second into trying to find a cure. She was so focused on her work that even when the illness reached her, she did not stop in her endeavors… and succeeded. Her remedy saved not only her own life, but that of many others as well. Her father, his body weakened from the struggles, was the last victim the plague claimed.

After that, Lorraine could not stay. She packed all her belongings into a satchel and left the almost empty city in the middle of the night. Lost and aimless, she wandered around. She found new meaning as a travelling medic, curing illnesses and injuries wherever she went. Her path led her to Dead Castle, where the duchess at that time, Elizabeth, was about to give birth to her daughter. Lorraine helped mother and child, making sure the hatchling was healthy and well. The duchess took a liking to the travelling medic, and offered her a place to stay. Tired from never belonging anywhere, Lorraine agreed. She made it her duty to care for everyone’s well-being, does not falter even when faced with the gravest injuries.

When Katalin's father died, Lorraine hid in her room for days. Ever since then, deep hatred connected her to duchess Elizabeth. No one really knows what happened back then, but Lorraine did not hesitate to swear loyalty to Katalin when she overthrew her mother. Still, her loyalty towards her morals weigh heavier than this oath ever could. Lorraine did not for a moment consider leaving Andras to die despite risking to draw the rage of the duchess, instead healed his wounds and to this day cares for his mental well-being. The two of them are close friends, no matter Katalin’s thoughts on the matter.
