▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Ferro narrowed her eyes. „Are you sure you really are a shaman?” The slender Wildclaw male bristled. “Of course I am!” he snapped. “I ventured into the deepest caverns of the Cairnstone Rest to find the bones of the skeletal wyrms that haunt the chasms. I retrieved them and carved the runes into them myself. They possess great magical power.” Ferro looked at the dragon and the small bone fragments. She was filled with incredulity although her mother always revered her own Birth Rune. She remembered her wearing it on a string of leather around her neck, safely tugged away underneath her plumage. But Ferro was not like her mother. She had no need for this superstitious nonsense. She was curious though. And Andras who claimed to be a shaman was nothing like she had expected him to be. She always thought of a shaman as a wizened old dragon clad in rags, wearing rattling bones as ornaments and living in some reclusive gloomy cavern deep in the woods. But Andras was neither old nor wearing rags. He was young, agile and living right in the center of the Sanctuary if he wasn’t somewhere exploring the most remote corners of Sornieth. He was wearing a mask made of bone, that much was true to her expectations. Being near him made her feel strangely uncomfortable, like being near to a feral animal that could attack at any moment. Not that she was afraid, just…wary.

“Well? Is there anything I can do for you? Or do you just want to bug me with stupid questions?”
Not the most patient or friendly dragon either, Ferro thought. She shrugged. “I was just curious. My mother told me about her Choosing of the Bones. Not that I believe in such superstition, but you are the first shaman I’ve met and you are not what I was expecting.” The shaman shot an angry look at her. Ferro smiled innocently. That only deepened his frown. Perhaps it was time to go. Her mother always told her that she had a knack for provoking others even if she intended the opposite. Something about her attitude? Soft footsteps sounded behind her. She resisted the urge to spin around, reminding herself that she was safe in the Citadel and dragons here did not react well to having a knife at their throat just for passing by too closely for her liking. She sniffed the air. Pine needles and the odd smell of a crisp cold winter morning. Her smile deepened.
“Scylla is looking for you, Andras. She said something about a strange artefact they found near the portal. The druids and Dawnguards are already there, but they’d like your opinion, too.”

Andras relaxed, looking more eager now than angry. With a hurried thanks to the message-bearer he spun around and left her standing there. Now Ferro frowned. Not only impatient but also rude. Not at all what she had expected.
“You shouldn’t tease him, Ferro. He doesn’t take well to it.” Ferro turned around slowly. As expected, she came face to face with Maljin, who was frowning at her. Ferro bared her teeth. “I was merely asking him a question.” she spat, all happy excitement gone. How dared he criticize her. It was that stupid shaman who had no manners, not her. She dashed passed him, coming close enough to brush against him. He didn’t flinch, his eyes above that stupid mask he was wearing were smiling. Ferro clenched her fists and gnashed her teeth. Why had she chosen to live amongst those rude, superstitious tree-hugging dragons? She could have ventured south into the barren Southern Icefield, or tested her strength against the Plaguebringers foul creations. But then she’d never liked the cold and the stench of the Scarred Wasteland had made her gag. In the woods, she felt at home. She sighed. You have to live with the choices you make, her mother had always told her. She stopped to turn around and look at Maljin, her anger cooling down as fast as it had flared up. And she had to admit that her choices could have been a lot worse. Smiling, she headed towards the forest. A hunt would be a good thing to clear her head.

▬▬ BLIGHTCROW VARIANT ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

WHO ARE THE BLIGHTCROWS?
Blightcrows are the children of Effluvial Crows and Blightbound who have survived their tomb blight after a fight with a crow. With how unusual it is to occur, it’s no wonder a crow might take a liking to the particularly hardy Blightbound. However, it has taken quite some time for these Blightcrows to become more commonly seen, as they can blend fairly effectively with flocks and clans of Crows and Blightbound.
