The "Incompetent" Emperor

Fabricated. Everyone called him a fool, a disgrace to his father. His childhood name "Adou" became associated with incompetency and an idiot. Those who spoke his name had spite in their words and acid in their tongue. He was the one who destroyed Shu.

Liu Shan knew this. He did not stop this. In fact, he encouraged this. In the public, Liu Shan continued to feign ignorance and present himself as a simple fool, and he was good at it. When people stopped expecting anything from him, he could control them without them realising to doing what he needs them to do. He was a talented and cunning man, but if he had a choice, he wished he was truly as ignorant as he presented himself.

The growing expectations of his father's legacy hurt him. He never wanted this. He wanted to live a simple life, a life far from being associated with Liu Bei. In fact, he hated Liu Bei, being abandoned by him and hardly being treated like a son, it made him angry deep down. And now he had to look over his father's broken nation when he knew it was going to fall apart painfully no matter what he did. More people were going to die for the sake of his father's nation, no matter how useless it was.

So he made the painful choice to surrender. And with it, the painful reputation that came with him being known as a traitor, a disgrace. They threw rocks at him as he left the capital to go and live in Jin's capital. They screamed at him and cried, wondering why he did this and how he could do this to Liu Bei's nation. Forever he was going to be seen the one who destroyed Shu.


And yet for the first time in his life, he felt free.
