The Two-faced Retainer

Abused. Ma Dai often made others smile with his sunny personality, cheering others up and making sure they kept looking at things like an optimist. He made sure to help people as much as possible, as he felt like it was his duty to serve those around him. People adored Ma Dai and they thought he was just a thoughtful and sweet man. But nobody ever realised deep down something stirred in him that would shock even the most seasoned veterans of war.

After the many years of serving his cousin Ma Chao, Ma Dai had quite the unexpected dark side to him. He dirtied his hands so that his cousin didn't have to. Ma Dai was willing to make any sacrifice necessary to accomplish his goals and he was not afraid to kill someone or even sacrifice himself if he had to. If it got him the end result he needed, he would do it. He would do anything for his cousin, the young master, his family.

But in return, Ma Chao abused him and broke his hopes and dreams.

Ma Dai took it all, because Ma Chao was all he had left.

Pang De was like a father to Ma Dai when he was younger. After his parents died tragically, Pang De took him in and cared for him and he loved him so much. He wasn't like a father, he was his father. But Pang De eventually had been through a series of events which brought him into Wei and left him all alone. His faith and adoration was fractured, and Ma Dai felt abandoned again.

Then came news that Pang De had been executed by Guan Yu, and Ma Dai feel to his knees and cried.

When Ma Chao eventually died from illness, he thought maybe he would be freed from this curse of Ma Chao's wrath. He would do anything for Ma Chao, but he still despised him for all that he had done to him. But when Ma Chao was gone, Ma Dai realised it hurt. That void inside him was screaming and it ripped him from the inside out.

He realised that he missed his abuser.
