Biography
Because of their lineage, the three young dragons shared some of the strange magic their ancient kin possessed. Aster was particularly gifted; she found she had the ability to create wards much like her grandmother Shiver, the Hive Queen.
Aster found a place within the caves where the stone was hot and thin, and with a bit of effort, managed to crack the outer layer, exposing a small pool of lava. Dahlia, who was particularly gifted with the native element of fire, helped her to forge and shape an obsidian warding bowl, which they settled in the pool of lava.
Needless to say, Shiver and the rest of her Hive brought the three sisters many of the precious stones they'd collected to power their new ward in order to help get them settled into their new home.
Naturally, Charlene had been introduced to Darkling's family shortly after they'd begun nesting, and while she found them to be a bit odd, she found them strangely endearing as well. Even her own home clan had smaller factions within it by now; it was only natural for dragons to form their own smaller groups within larger clans, but Darkling's family was different.
Despite the number of children who had left their home in an attempt to help spread their small but growing population within the new world, most of the alien, shadowy dragons preferred to stay together, and were very close. As soon as Shiver had heard that her son had chosen a mate, Charlene was immediately accepted as family.
It was a warm welcoming she wasn't expecting, but was happy to have.
Despite some of early rumors and well-earned wariness the natives had formed about the Shade Fae, Charlene saw clearly that nothing about these odd creatures was something that should be feared. Even the more reserved members of the family were polite and kind, and most of them were eager to form some form of bond with Charlene, often asking about the other members of her clan and how they were doing.
Overall, they were some of the kindest dragons she'd met so far. She returned home to her own clan, sharing what she had learned, and her family's wariness began to fade. Crowe and Celestial, and eventually even their son Midnight, opened up to their new neighbors and began forming bonds of their own.
