Biography
Sacrifice
Warrior || Unsettling || Survivor
Warrior || Unsettling || Survivor
She never had a name. From birth she was simply just known to be a sacrifice to gain favor from the deities. Her family was distant to her to the point she didn't even remember who they were. The dragons in her birth clan didn't treat her poorly while growing up- in fact they treated her like royalty almost. She was pampered and dotted on. The only issue was... they never called her by a name.
That was a little bit of a lie. Eventually she did learn they called her something. Sacrifice. The young spiral wasn't certain what it meant at first nor why they always mentioned it in hush whispers around her. However, she soon learned the horrors that awaited her when another dragon they'd called by that name was taken to a place of ritual outside camp. She had followed them, sneaking out to see what this celebration was about and why many were so excited.
The spiral wished she'd stayed in the safety of camp. Watching what became of the older dragon horrified her and sent her running back to her den without a care of being caught. She began counting down the days as she grew up, dreading as the day she'd face the same fate as those other sacrifices before her. Sacrifice began watching the warriors of the clan and practicing their moves in secret. If she was to die then she would do so fighting.
When the night came, Sacrifice was led to the alter where she was to die. She stayed calm and pretended to play along with their little ritual at first... And then the spiral sprang into action. She fought tooth and nail to save herself. Escape, as always, was impossible with all the dragons around. In the end, she was left on the black metal slab, injured and assumed dead by the clan who'd raised her. Faintly, she could hear them leave with concerned mutterings on if this ritual had appeased their deity.
Days would pass and her wounds would slowly heal themselves. Sacrifice wasn't sure why she wasn't dead. She was sure this wasn't normal. The spiral eventually felt well enough to get up and took the opportunity to get far from her birth clan. She travelled far and kept to herself- not that many dragons wished to approach her with her scarred appearance, especially when her eyes lacked the telltale sign of her element. It was unnatural. Her fire magic was still there but they wouldn't know that, though they should. Dragons couldn't live without their elemental magic.
Sacrifice took on the role of a warrior for hire eventually for those brave enough to purchase her services. She fought in many battles in several flights. Rumors soon spread of her skill on the battlefield. They began to call her unnatural. Her ragged appearances by all means made dragons believe her to be undead and potentially immortal. Others wondered if dark magic was involved. Sacrifice couldn't tell them the truth if she wanted to, she had no idea herself how she'd survived so long. The dragons of Plague, where she eventually made her home, were exceptionally interested in her. A dragon with such a will to survive surely held Plagubringer's blessings. They wished to learn how to become like her: a perfect embodiment of their flight's ideals.
She could only laugh to herself. This endless life of fighting and surviving was more a curse than a blessing. But it was one she lived and one she would continue to live. One day she hopes to find peace. Until then, Sacrifice find solace in wandering the red, iron rich sands of Plague.
