Matope's den is the largest den out of all the dens in the clan. The entrance is covered by wildwood moss. Nests of varying sizes are lined against one wall of the den. Multiple mats are leaned up against the far wall. Opposite the nests, the wall is pockmarked with holes. Each hole contains different types of vines, herbs, and leaves of different sizes. There's a tunnel leading to the healer's sleeping area. A Gaoler-sized nest is beside the tunnel entrance. The nest belongs to Grim, Matope's guard. Matope is the clan's healer. She's a dragon of few words, usually 'lay back down', 'shush', or 'Grim, make this patient lay back down.' Matope cares very deeply for every dragon in her clan, but hardly ever shows her love toward them. Her voice is calming yet firm and commanding. Most of the dragons in the clan look up to her, but she never pretends to be better than anyone. She prefers the quiet of her den and the rustle of herbs over sparring. However, Matope's an excellent fighter and will defend her patients if need be, but she never needs to, partly because of Grim. She also speaks to her familiar, an undergrowth shovelsnout named Pumbaa. Matope dusted her den clean with the twig broom. Then she checked the herb stocks again, making a mental note to collect more poppy seeds next time she went gathering. Just as she was about to check her band aid wrap stores, she heard a whimper. The skydancer turned, watching as Sirius limped in, pushing aside the wildwood moss curtain. He whimpered again and flopped onto one of the nests for patients. Thankfully, Sirius only acted like this when he was hurt.
"I s-stepped on a th-thoOoRn" he sniffled, looking down at the sharp creature in his foot. Matope nodded and selected a few supplies. Then she strode over to the pitiful tundra. With surprising strength for a skydancer, she yanked the thorn out smoothly and tossed it into a bucket.
The tundra whimpered louder.
"OwwwWW!"
"Hush." Matope commanded quietly.
Sirius shut his mouth obediently, wincing as she dabbed a mashed herb onto his foot.
"There." She said as she dutifully returning the unused herbs to their places.
With a final sniff, Sirius hobbled out of the den.
"Th-thank you."
