SEER OF THE EXALTED
Eclipse’s first memories were of hundreds of dragons, silvery and incorporeal, shifting and slipping around her like a sea of liquid shadow forms. It was almost a decade afterwards that she asked her parents who those strange spirits had been. “Spirits? What spirits?” Her parents asked, disturbed by Eclipse’s recollection of the time when she first blinked open her dark ruby eyes. They knew there had only been three dragons present; her mother, father, and herself - yet Eclipse insisted there was no mistake. She remembered them wholly, those dark memories, despite being newborn at the time. This would not be the last time Eclipse spoke of such things. You see, Eclipse lived a childhood dogged by strange memories of the past. She knew of lives she could not possibly have lived, and spoke of dragons that existed centuries before her time. She was the victim of incessant mockery from her lair mates because of her inclination to talk to nothing, what they perceived as nothing anyways. Quiet and soft-spoken, Eclipse never defended herself. Her family never knew about the spirits who haunted her life, never saw the spirits; the exalted of the past; whispering their secrets into her ears. Her mother, Opalescence, was perturbed by Eclipse’s unnatural behaviour and found her driftiness unsettling, and was not as encouraging to her daughter as her husband, Nostradamus, was. He could see things others couldn’t too, and encouraged Eclipse to explore her gift in secret. Many would not want to hear about long passed lair mates, it would be...upsetting after all. It had taken some time to convince the spirits of this however, and most of Eclipse’s teenage years were spent as a mediator. One cannot simply soothe the hearts of the broken after all. Eclipse continued in this fashion, maintaining contact with the spirits, until her ancestry was unearthed from a long-forgotten cabinet of memoirs and heirlooms. There were hard, definite lines between reality and imagination, what you could see and what you could not. As a descendant of the notorious Glitch Queen Naomi, these lines would bend before Eclipse as flimsily as silk bends for a tailor. She learnt that her mother had lain with another dragon, a descendant of Naomi, at her father’s request. That was how she came into this world. Eclipse was startled to say the least, but it made sense. She entertained the notion of looking for her birth father, but the spirits advised against it. Some had met their end by him, albeit accidentally, and they selfishly guarded their only tether to Sornieth as much as they could. Besides, Nostradamus had treated her like his own flesh and blood. She could not give up stability that easily. Fittingly for her ethereal abilities and name, Eclipse manifested an appreciation for astronomy, an art form as mysterious as the lost souls she saw every day. She now spends her time at Tourmaline’s observatory, an avid student with a clear passion the Wildclaw regarded with appreciation. Strangely, studying the stars tethered Eclipse to reality. The shimmering sky was a semblance of tranquility, a cool relief from the desperate whispers of the spirits only she could see. She watches the skies when the ghosts come, and as she listens, she begins to wonder. Perhaps, in another universe, their souls have stopped wandering. Who is Naomi?
The Glitch Queen
Messages and items purchased from AH used to be delivered to your inbox by one of three NPC courier dragons. But on January 25th, 2016, the courier dragons were all replaced by this Triple Basic White/Azure/Sky Fae named Naomi. Naomi's clan was found to be clan number 0, housing over 15 million dragons. All of the exalted dragons on FR at that time. Naomi herself was listed in Dragon Search as exalted.
It is theorized that Naomi was a user account taken over by the admins to house the site's exalted dragons, but no one knows exactly why this account was suddenly visible or why Naomi took over the AH that day. This bug was, of course, fixed, and now Naomi lives in an empty lair.
Naomi did, however have a mate, Coal. It was found during this event that Naomi and Coal had one surviving offspring, Willow, who was sold in an auction for an equivalent of over $2000! Willow's owner auctioned off only a small number of her offspring, and it is from them that Naomi descendants are bred with the goal of keeping the Glitch Queen's lineage alive.

An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when an astronomical object or spacecraft is temporarily obscured, by passing into the shadow of another body or by having another body pass between it and the viewer. This alignment of three celestial objects is known as a syzygy. Apart from syzygy, the term eclipse is also used when a spacecraft reaches a position where it can observe two celestial bodies so aligned. An eclipse is the result of either an occultation (completely hidden) or a transit (partially hidden). The term eclipse is most often used to describe either a solar eclipse, when the Moon's shadow crosses the Earth's surface, or a lunar eclipse, when the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow. However, it can also refer to such events beyond the Earth–Moon system: for example, a planet moving into the shadow cast by one of its moons, a moon passing into the shadow cast by its host planet, or a moon passing into the shadow of another moon. A binary star system can also produce eclipses if the plane of the orbit of its constituent stars intersects the observer's position. For the special cases of solar and lunar eclipses, these only happen during an "eclipse season", the two times of each year when the plane of the Earth's orbit around the Sun crosses with the plane of the Moon's orbit around the Earth. The type of solar eclipse that happens during each season (whether total, annular, hybrid, or partial) depends on apparent sizes of the Sun and Moon. If the orbit of the Earth around the Sun, and the Moon's orbit around the Earth were both in the same plane with each other, then eclipses would happen each and every month. There would be a lunar eclipse at every full moon, and a solar eclipse at every new moon. And if both orbits were perfectly circular, then each solar eclipse would be the same type every month. It is because of the non-planar and non-circular differences that eclipses are not a common event. Lunar eclipses can be viewed from the entire nightside half of the Earth. But solar eclipses, particularly total eclipses occurring at any one particular point on the Earth's surface, are very rare events that can be many decades apart. |
