As the sole curator of Skyreach's vast lands, Catalpa always has her hands full (feet too- she is able to wield tools using them). The boundless energy her breed is characterized by has allowed Catalpa to become quite an expert in her field, and she revels in the workload she is given. Even after a hard day's work of weed-wrangling and plant-tending, she still has time and enthusiasm to spend on her second job, which is foraging. Catalpa is a pillar for the clan and a resource many aesthetic-loving dragons have come to appreciate greatly.

The downside of her Spiral energy is its effects on her mind; Catalpa constantly experiences a myriad of thoughts and emotions, each as powerful as the last. She is prone to fits of intense confusion whenever the warring thoughts in her head get out of control. Catalpa lived this way around the clock, but Thistle put it to a stop after he managed to devise a simple coping mechanism for her. He did it out of sheer concern for the eccentric dragoness’s wellbeing, and freely admits that he didn’t expect it to work.

Thistle gifted Catalpa several pieces of citrine jewelry and instructed her to associate each piece with a different emotion or action. He suggested that wearing these trinkets and focusing on them could help her stay tethered to a single thought, instead of having to attend to every single thought in her brain. As it turned out, the sensation of the jewelry against her scales actually did help to ground Catalpa, and she hasn’t suffered from sudden onset confusion in a long time.

Catalpa’s Tethers
Cat: her focus when wearing her ring and earrings. She is playful and enthusiastic, characterized by endless energy.
Tal: nicknamed “Tally” by some, this is her focus when wearing her armlet and anklets. She is work-oriented, persistent, and performs well with numbers and calculations.
Pa: her focus when wearing her choker. She is introspective and careful, with a wealth of patience and a great eye for detail.
Cattail: a double-focus, present when she wears her ring, earrings, armlet, and anklets. She is able to turn her excitement towards a task and finish it quickly. It’s worth nothing that she has no patience as Cattail.
Talpa: a double-focus, present when she wears her armlet, anklets, and choker. She finishes work at a more aggressive pace, however her attention to detail does not suffer due to her increased speed.
Catalpa: her true self. This focus is present when wearing all of her citrine jewelry at the same time, or none of them at all. She’s extremely talented as herself, but she’s prone to confusion when trying to work. She usually is Catalpa, only narrowing herself down when engaged in some task.
