- you know when you live in the annex and you're lower class so your whole life depends on mining the blacksand
- and you happen to be a half decent mage so you make some nice machines to help you out
- but one time you magiked a little too hard and made a fully sentient dragon made of obsidian and a coal engine
- yeah
- the flamecaller made banescales first right? and look at them. warlike and full of teeth. made for those early wars
- but as fearsome as the flamecaller likes to portray herself, she was devastated when they were supposedly wiped out in battle
- which is why she made coatls, which are soft and talk in songs, designed to be loved
- she did regress past her grief, unfortunately, but still so it goes
- absolutely mad that someone else made a banescale
