The Order of the Ash are a relic of the time before the Hearth. Originally devoted to the worship of the Flamecaller, the priests and priestesses of the Ash were carefully trained as both warriors and healers; a tradition that survived the extinction of the Banescales.

As memories of their past culture faded from the Hearthborn, the interpretation of 'Ash' in the texts became more literal, limiting access to the order to only dragons who were 'born of ash'. These dragons, purposefully incubated under mounds of heated ash on the shelves of the Hearth, are distinct for their ashen hide. The hatchlings of Ash are left to fend mostly for themselves as they grow, only tended to by the Hearth-keepers, and rarely at that. Once they are old enough, they are then collected up by the elders of the order, and the raw survival instincts that they have learned are channelled into their training. Members of the Ash are talented survivalists as a result of their early life.

Syth in particular excells as a tracker, and works closely with Auga to retrieve the lost from the Depths. She also has a passion for the medical arts, but prefers to work in theraputic medicines such as acupuncture.
