Owlcat Journal » A tiny ink and charcoal notebook that Dibun keeps on his person at all times. It’s filled with field notes of mysterious sightings and personal ques. “Saw an odd hoofprint outside my bedroom window this morning. I wonder if I’m being stalked by that one-legged satyr again.” “I wonder what other colors we don’t have the rods and cones for look like?” “Who is Gaz plotting to kill today?”

Tricky Telescope » “Did you know that when you’re looking at the stars in the night sky, you’re basically looking back in time? That’s because even though light travels extremely fast, it still takes time (299,792,458 meters per second to be about exact!), so it takes time for stars that are billions of years away to reach our eyes now! The stars that you see in the sky tonight could actually already have died! Cool, right?”

Book of Eldritch Horror » A book containing all of Dibun and Scully's current findings regarding the team's experience with the Forbidden Portal and its enemies. With Scully’s scientific acumen and Dibun’s creative mind, they make the perfect team to investigate things the likes of which Sornieth has never seen. A small amount of residue from Scully’s fingers after examining some of the team's loot from the corrupted region seems to have gotten onto some of the book's pages, seeping within and giving the paper an unidentifiable scent.

»Origin.
Occasionally Dibun thought back to his childhood in the Starfall Isles, dragged through the cities by his father's lab-coattails and even into the Sunbeam Ruin cities for work. The few friends Dibun had couldn't follow him everywhere. Although, Dibun never had much time for anything but his father's work or his schooling, so he learned to entertain himself. Like his father, Dibun found interest in all sort of mystery and science, and tinkered where he could. Although his father clearly loved him, Membrane didn't make much time for either of his children. But of course Dibun never blamed his father for being a famous scientist--he was so busy, of course.
He seemed like a different kind of parent than Dibun expected most others to have. If he wasn't something different, then who comes up with names like "Dibun" and Gazoline?" Weird.
"I can't make it tonight, son! I have an interview with the portal associates and we must make a trip back to the Ruins before dawn! Sornieth counts on my claws!" Dib's father would say dramatically.

The childhood image in his memory was solemn. Like always, Dibun knew that his father would disappear for a while until his work was done, then retrieve him and his sister from a sitter--for his father had quickly learned not to leave his children alone. They, more specifically Dibun, never sat still and would undoubtedly cause dragon-sized havoc wherever they went. Dibun wasn't trusted to be alone, but his father wouldn't watch him, or make any efforts to spend time with him, even if his work would suffice to keep Dibun entertained--his father never trusted Dibun to be brought along. Dibun's sister, Gaz didn't help the situation either--she was intentionally a blight on his surroundings. In the same boat as Dib, she also had no friends, and was unfairly kept under their father's severe hold. However, her means of entertaining herself stood solely on tormenting Dibun and making his life a living hell with no escape.

"Sornieth counts on my claws!" Dibun remembered was the last thing he heard his father say to him face-to-face. Dibun clearly recalled his father lifting off into the sky as Dibun and Gaz were walked into the city under the Astrolodome. The Astrolodome was an astoundingly large city structure built over a cliff edge and enclosed by a protective pink dome. It was a capital of science and arcane schools, laboratories, and observatories, and just the idea of it made Dibun want to shoot out of his skin and into the stars. Being kept from exploring the city also didn't help the feeling of containment. Being given explicit instructions not to let the young dragons "get any ideas," their sitter merely walked them home through the enticing city streets.

Dibun recalled that he and Gaz always kept close to their sitter, but brushing through the crowds had made it harder than usual. Like a sudden breeze, a body walked between Dibun and the sitter in front of him. The figure's gaze wasn't something Dibun could remember easily, like he could only picture a cloud of dust in place of what was the dragon's head. Though Dibun did remember staring back into the gaze as the body halted in the crowd, slowing Dibun down behind Gaz and the sitter, until he was separated from them completely. Somehow he thought this little event was intentional.

In an instant, Dibun was alone with the crowd flowing around him. No view of the sitter or Gaz or the gazing body to guide him forward. He stood there being bristled by the dragons going past. The force of the crowd suddenly pushed Dibun, trying to flow over him and he ducked into an ally way.
Dibun didn't think much was on his mind at the time. He was blank, sort of sterile. Alone for the first time that he could recall. Was that good? It didn't immediately seem bad, or scary. He felt relieved in an anxious sort of way. He was young, Dibun knew he wasn't capable to be on his own. But, maybe other dragons his age didn't feel that way.
Although he had wished and prayed for freedom many times, Dibun was lost now that he had it. At the same time he felt no urge to find Gaz and the sitter. Only a spit of anger entered his mind at the thought of finding them in the crowd only to go back to his blithe sibling and the horribly mundane and painful life he knew would follow.

The guilt came hours later after Dibun lost himself in the streets, crosswalks, and alleyways of the Astrolodome. The young dragon quickly burnt his bridges home, anxiously and excitedly looking forward to the mystery and challenge of a life of his own accord--which, he reasoned, he may have never gotten if he went home.
In the maze of the city through the pinkish brick buildings, Dibun saw the sun fully risen in the distance and imagined his father, at that moment, may be wondering what had happened to him. Then he wondered if he should care. What was the worth of a life like that? Pleasing others with your mere existence just to be in despair yourself? Despair he had grown content with but despair nonetheless. And would it even get better? Maybe. Only because it would be ridiculous if it didn't.

How... Unfair? Dibun realized. Although that was a dreary thought, he quickly found solace in the fact that he was no longer in a despairing place. He could move on in a right way, and forge something new with the freedom he had dreamt of and strangely received...

---

Dibun is forever thankful of Il'ike and the fact that they crossed each others' paths at all. Ever since Il'ike took interest in Dibun's personality and investigative skills, Dibun has been glowing with passion and praise. Having never had anyone care to utilize his skills or bother with reading his notes or follow his explorations, Dibun can't help but feel full of thanks and is more than welcome to help Il'ike and the team investigate and find a way to fight the Forbidden Portal.

Notes:
-Cryptozoologist
-Extremely intrigued by the supernatural and unexplained.
-Follows the cryptids of Sornieth, mysterious phenomenon, and the re-emerging "Ancient Breeds"
-Constantly travels for personal research
-Minor tinkerer
-Cluttered home, lots of books and old projects. "Organized chaos"
-Might get worked up about insignificant things because his imagination goes haywire, though usually not for long.
-He really likes Cors. Cors is too nice to tell him to leave him alone, but then again, Dibun does occasionally have his moments of brilliance.
-Stargazing is a hobby

->Why is he in this clan? Sure he travels, but he seems to have settled here. Why? (something more than just "there's something in particular here that he's researching")
->It doesn't really make sense for a stargazer to be living in a forest, so maybe he lives somewhere where there's not much vegetation. Maybe he lives with/near Sawday?
---

"Ah so it seems the long distance between the portal and the Shifting Expanse is enough to lose the trail of the creatures that spawn around it. I never would have guessed they were so fervent."

"Yup. The damn things chase us for miles."

"Hey, maybe the trek all the way here from the portal isn't so inconvenient after all."

"Nah it's still really inconvenient."
---
"Have you ever tried tuning into the waves that Skydancers can sense? I have a theory--"

Bluebook?

"Dibun is a cute name! Why don't you go by that?"
"I'm not cute I'm Dibun."

"He's a smart kid, really. His priorities just might be a little off. He definitely isn't boring though."
-Cors
