Biography

6000181_350_zps3cf66e69.png

An ancient dragon that was remarkably vain and proud, and considered herself to be the living embodiment of the Sunrise, which she named herself after. There was almost nothing she adored more than her own bright scales and feathers.

Centuries ago she became infatuated with Setesh, whom she believed to be the living embodiment of the Sunset. She believed that they were a matched set; born to be together, but she could never catch his eye. In her desperation, she went to the great and terrible wizard, Veles, for help. He offered her a spell that would, "guarantee that the one [you] love will notice you," in exchange for her unquestioning, eternal servitude.

The spell turned out to be a curse that haunts Sunrise with bad luck that spreads to anything that comes into contact with her, and stripped her of her beauty; her pride and joy. Setesh indeed finally noticed her, interested in this dark, mysterious woman. When he drew close, he was cursed, falling helplessly in love with another dragon that would never love him in return.

Consumed with anguish over the loss of her bright colors and now too the mate she was sure was hers, she secluded herself in a deep cave where she would blend in and no one would see her. Here she conducts her own magical experiments in attempts to reverse her misfortune where her only company are the bats that live in the cave (and subsequently are cursed as well, she being the original source of all Cursed Bats), and her familiar, whose feathers and scales provide strong, magical ingredients and catalysts for her experiments, and whose fierce gaze makes sure none gaze upon her. She is convinced that, although she has not seen it since her defacing, the Sunrise has lost its brilliance

She only emerges from her cave in the wee hours of the night, when she is sure that neither the Sunrise, nor the Sunset will ever see her shame, and this she only does when she is summoned to serve Veles.

"You should have known better. The Sunrise and Sunset, although kindred spirits, are cursed to never be together."
- Veles
