Ashbloom, the younger brother of Foxglove from a different nest, also wants to support their mother's vision of a loving clan open to all dragons, especially those who have nowhere else to go. A healer like his father, Ashbloom trained under Angel and Sandstorm to learn how to best help his clanmates. His nestmate, Black Rose, thought he was silly to stay in a clan that claimed to care for all lost souls but who allowed their youngest to leave the cave without even a word of caution for the war outside. Black Rose scoffed, but he left to fight in that eternal war too, and Ashbloom would never admit he still thinks about him a lot and wonders how he's doing. Other subsequent nests of younger siblings look at their elder brothers Foxglove and Ashbloom with a range of thoughts from restrained awe to outright scorn. Foxglove never cared what anyone thought of him and he started his own clan, taking his best friends with him to keep the Cave of Lost Souls from overcrowding. Sometimes Ashbloom wonders if he ought to do the same someday and feels pressured, but he keeps it all inside. For now, he teaches his younger siblings as much about the world as he knows and shows them as many paths as he can so they all make the best decision. Until the nest which produced Buttercup, Bearberry, and Licorice, Ashbloom knew only the two paths: stay in the Cave or go on to serve the Shadowbinder. Foxglove announced then that there was another path and announced his departure from the Cave. He asked Ashbloom to come with him, but Ashbloom was too scared to leave. He still wonders if he made the right decision. Buttercup, Bearberry, and Licorice, following in Foxglove's footsteps, journeyed to a new clan and went on to have babies near the sea. Bearberry and Licorice went to serve their new deity, the Tidelord, leaving Buttercup behind to raise her own family. Now Ashbloom tells his younger siblings that they can do anything and that though there are only four paths he knows of, that doesn't mean they can't blaze a new trail if they put their minds to it.
A younger sister, Verbena, went to join Foxglove's clan, and she keeps in touch with her home clan, making sure the remaining siblings remain close. She keeps track of records.
Clover wandered far from the home clan, and one day Foxglove discovered her daughter, Star, and brought her back home. Star stays with her uncle Ashbloom, eager to learn everything she can about her roots.
Chrysanthemum, a practical and organized younger sister, keeps track of Swipp familiars.
