It was an odd thing to think about; how he had never known of Chimes in her previous life. She had always said she had been but another tundra of neutral tones, running through the snows of the Ice region. Her story really was incredible in all senses of the word, amazing... but unbelievable too. Perhaps he could ask her details but his intuition was that it was a touchy subject. He did not wish to discredit her form now with talk of what she had been before. Vernon would never dream of that! But he was curious, he was an Arcane dragon after all. He had believed in her long before there was a castle over his head and a banner by his side. Back when they were a traveling band of dragons, looking for the perfect territory, settling in the Starwood for a while but being the dreamers they were, they had bigger plans and they would hate to fall those ancient trees for it. So, they had entered the open plains further North where a sea breeze rippled the soft grass. He would graze alongside Chimes as they cooked up all their plans and Cyn would make her errands, foster those connections they needed, bring in professionals. He recalled the formation of the first members of what would later be called the Council. Back then there had only been the Belfry, their first marvel on the new territory, to their names. It was a miracle so many had faith in them at all. Then there was Caenis. She had been a great boon to their success. He remembered her arrival clearly, a glittering soldier of the sunbeam regions. He was used to all sorts of spellcraft but the sight of her before them, swearing loyalty, was one of the most magical moments of his life. He and Chimes had exchanged glances then, eyes twinkling and Arcane minds wheeling off into a thousand different directions of new possibilities. In Caenis’ protective shadow they had constructed the Starlit Castle, roomy enough even for their largest members to enter. All Vernon could do was trust Chimes and the Belfry as he always had. He felt the ring on his finger and the food in his belly. This was proof enough. |

Bio "Throwing Shade is certainly not a Light matter."" Vernon is a gentle yet sturdy dragon with a rather dorky inclination towards puns and all manner of "dad humor". While not typically long-winded, when subjects such as history and geography come up, one might find it difficult to curb his enthusiasm. This is probably why he is a professor of Geography and Architecture at the Belfry's university. Vernon ultimately prefers a quiet life, mostly keeping to the lair and its surrounding territory. There, he can peacefully study and exist with what has become a family of dragons (not by blood but by companionship) that he values more than any riches in this world. He is one of the less "seen" of the Belfry's leaders, preferring to exist more peripherally and simply backing up Chimes. That being said, he is very protective of his clan but it is a fair criticism to say he can be a bit oblivious towards untrustworthy dragons (Luckily, he is supported by Caenis who is the antithesis of gullible). As one might expect he primarily reveres the Arcanist but after that he elementally relates to Earth.  |
