Coyote

Coyote had always known that he was destined to serve in Her glory. It was a feeling imbeded deep within his soul, inscribed onto his bones. Her calling to him was like a moth to the flame, and he thrived in Her embers.

Having hatched early in a world where contamination sought out weakness at every chance it got, it was no surprise when Coyote fell ill. All three of the hatchlings of his nest had been weaker than those before them, and it had only been a matter of time before one of them was to return to Her in Her glory.

And yet that did not happen. Instead of succumbing to the sickness that surely should have taken his life, Coyote survived. He came out stronger because of it, a miracle child, and when his eyes opened for the first time to a world that had been ready to cast him aside, it was with the bright glow of power.

His body grew stronger day by day, and it wasn't long until he was the biggest of the bunch. A natural born leader, his father had called him. A son worthy of the title Prince. Yet Coyote was always one to stay humble, to keep himself level with the rest. He forged a closeness to his brother and sister through blood and water, vowed to forever be there for them through thick and thin.

When the time came for him to partake in the trials, he felt no nerves. It was as easy as coming home, a feeling as natural as the beat within in his chest.


His siblings were not as lucky.
